Masthead
The masthead is the main name of the magazine. It is conventionally the largest text on the main
page of the magazine, and it has a unique font that is not used for anything else other than the actual
masthead. It is always positioned at the top of the magazine page this enables you to see the name of
the magazine when they are stacked in front of one another on the shelves in shops. For very
established brands the main image would overlap the middle of the masthead, and is usually in a bold
font and a colour that would stand out from the background. The name of the magazine itself signifies
the genre of the magazine.

The masthead is the big white letters at the top of the front cover of the magazine signifying Mojo
magazine and it is conventionally the biggest text on the front page of mojo magazine and it has a

These are the text on the front cover positioned around the main image. They highlight the feature
content in the magazine to inform the audience and appeal to them. There is always some text bigger,
bolder, different colour to stand out and this will usually be the thing that would appeal the most to the
audience to engage them. There is then smaller text underneath that gives more information about
the content.

This is like the tagline or slogan for the magazine. Conventionally positioned near the masthead. It
positions the magazine in the market place and lets the audience usually promote the magazine by
letting the audience know that they are getting the best content.
