X-MATHS (2025-2026)

Practice Questions Based on

Chapter-1 Real Numbers

M.C.Qs.

1. If two positive integers a and b are expressible in the form of a=pq2 and b=p3q; p ,q being prime
numbers, then LCM(a, b)is

(a) pq (b)p3q3 (c )p3q2 (d) p2q2

2. HCF of (26,169) =13,then LCM (26,169) is

(a) 26(b)52 (c)338 (d)13

3. The ratio between the LCM and HCF OF 5, 15 and 20 is

(a)1:12 (b)2:3 (c)12:1 (d)3:4

4. If the product of two numbers is 3691 and their LCM is 3691 , then their HCF is

(a)4 (b)3 (c)2 (d)1

5 .L.C.M. of 288,360 and384 is

(a)5780 (b)5760 (c)5740 (d)5770

For question no 6 and 7, two statements are given one labeled Assertion (A)and other labeled Reason
(R). Select the correct answer to these questions from code (a), (b) (c) and (d) as given below:

(a)Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation for A.

(b)Both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation for A.

(c)A is true but R is false.

(d) A is false but R is true.

6. Assertion (A):6n ends with digit zero, where n is natural number.

Reason(R):any no ends with digit zero, if its prime factor is of the form 2mx5n,where m and n are
natural numbers.

7.Assertion(A):For any two positive integers a and b,HCF (a, b)x LCM (a,b)=axb

Reason (R) :The HCF of two number numbers is 5 and their product is 150.Then their HCF is 40.

SUBJECTIVE TYPE

1. Prove that √3 is irrational no.

2. Find HCF and LCM of 288,360 and384 by prime factorization method.

3. Explain why 11 x 13 x 15 x 17 + 17 is a composite number.

4. Prove that there is no natural number for which 4𝑛 ends with digit zero.

5. If LCM of 480 and 672 is 3360, Find HCF.

6. By using fundamental theorem of arithmetic, find LCM of 120, 105 and 150.

7.Find the largest number that will divide 100,245 and 343 leaving remainders 4,5 and 7

respectively.

8. Find the smallest number which when divided by 25, 40 and 60 leaves remainder 7 in each

case.

9. Find HCF of 148 and 232 and by using property, find LCM.

10. Prove that √2 + √3 is irrational.

CASE STUDY BASED QUESTIONS

February 14 is celebrated as International Book Giving Day and many country in the world celebrate
this day. Some people in India also started celebrating this day and donated the following number of
books to a public library:

History=96, Science=240, Biography=336

These book have to be stacked in such a way that all books are stored topic wise and each stack
contains equal number of books.

Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

1. What is the maximum number of books in each stack?

2. Write 336 as product of prime numbers.

3. Find the number of stacks of books in each subject.

OR

Find the total number of stacks for all the subjects.
