Demo 082553

The lesson plan focuses on teaching students about the different layers of the Earth: Crust, Mantle, Inner Core, and Outer Core. Students will engage in activities such as creating models and participating in games to enhance their understanding of these layers and their characteristics. The lesson includes interactive discussions, a video presentation, and evaluation through multiple-choice questions and labeling diagrams.

I.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:
 Identify the different layers of the Earth
 Outline the characteristics of each of Earth’s layers
 Create a model of the layers of the Earth

II. Subject Matter:

A. Concept: Crust, Mantel, Inner core and Outer core
B. Materials: Visual Aids, boiled egg, Sand, cup, rock, 3d model
C. Approach: Discussion, Active Learning, and Cooperative Learning
D. Focus Science Skills: Analysis, Explaining, communicating
III. Learning Experiences:
1. Prayer
I request everyone to please stand for the prayer. Will Let us put ourselves to the presence of God. In the
you please lead ……..(point one student to lead the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
prayer) Amen.
The Lord’s prayer.
2. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning, Ma'am Hanney!

You may now take your seats. Thank you, ma'am!

3. Checking of Attendance
No one ma'am.
Class monitor, who is absent for today?

Very good! Everybody is present

4. Setting of Standards

Before we proceed to our lesson, I request all the (student read in chorus)
students to read in chorus the classroom rules.
Yes Ma’am.
Can I expect that from you class?

ENGAGE (Get the students’ mind focused on the topic)

This morning I have prepared a game and it is called

“Hello Telephone”.
The mechanics of this Game are:

1. You will be grouped into three according to your

row.

2. I will be giving you a map of numbers with

corresponding letters.

3. All you have to do is write the corresponding letter

to the given number.

4. Then, you are going to arrange letters into word.

In order for you to be recognize you need to say
first “Hello Telephone” “the numbers are (restate
the numbers) and the letter is ………” (in chorus)

5. The first group come up the correct answer will be

given 5 points.
6. Write your answer on the bond paper that will be
given to you.

Are the instructions clear?

Yes, ma’am!
I have here the score board. Your scores for every
activity will be reflected here. The winner in this activity
will receive a special prize.
Are you excited, class? Yes ma’am!
Get ready because we will now start the game.
(students stared playing)
The winner in this game is the group_____ .

Let’s give a dolphin clap to the winning team for a job

well done. (students clap their hands)

EXPLORE (Provide students with a common experience)

So, now I have here a simple activity. With the same

group you need to choose one representative to come
here in front because I will distribute the materials. (representative students go in front)

We’ll make a model of the Earth by pouring these

materials into a clear cup. Well pour the Earth
materials from these bags one at a time into a
container. Then well look at the materials and decide if
they are mixed together or are in layers.

Do you think the Earths materials will be mixed or will (Some students answer materials will be mixed
be in layers? together and some answer will be in layers)

(Students performed and observed)

Let’s start by pouring the sand, next the grave, and
lastly the rocks.

What did you observe to our activity class? What is it It’s all about the layers of the Earth ma’am.
all about?

Okay very good!

EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and student)

Our topic for today is about the Layers of the Earth. Earth has 4 layers the Crust, Mantle, Inner and
Who among of you know the layers of the earth? How Outer Core.
many layers does earth have?

Very Good!

The Earth is divided into 4 main layers

 Crust

 Mantle

 inner Core
 Outer Core

So, right now I will be showing you a video about the

four layers of the Earth. You have to take down some
notes because I have questions afterwards. Yes ma’am.
Okay, do you understand?

(the video will started to play)

(after 2 minutes)

(teacher will ask some questions and have some

explanations)
The Earth has four (4) layers
How many layers are there in Earth?
Very good! Crust, Mantel, Outer core, and Inner core.

What are the four layers of the Earth?

Very good! Crust

What is the outer layer of the Earth?

Very good!
So, the crust is the outer most layer of the Earth. It is
the place where we live in.
It is made up of Iron and Nickel.
What materials make up the inner core? Any idea?
Very good!
The inner core is solid because it is made of very dense
or heavy materials like Iron and Nickel. So it is solid.
Iron and Molten rocks.
What materials make up outer core? Okay any hand.
Okay, very well! The outer core is made of liquid
materials: Iron and Molten rock. Basalt and Granites.

What materials make up crust? Who have any idea?

Okay, correct!
It is made of solid rock, mostly basalt and granite.
Iron and Magnesium
What materials make up of Mantel?
That is correct!
The mantel is consist of hot, dense, Iron and
Magnesium rich solid rock. The depth of Crust ranges from 5-70 kilometers
(3,1-43,5 mi)
What is the depth of the Crust?
2,890 km
What is the depth of the Mantel?
So, it extends to a depth of 2,890 km. it more deep
than crust.
About 5,150 to 6,276 km
Who can give me the depth of inner core?
The depth of inner core is 3,200 to 3,900 miles ( 5,150
to 6,276 km). so, the inner core is more deeper than
the mantel.
1,800 to 3,200 miles
Who has any idea what is the depth of the outer core?
Okay, very good! The depth of outer core is about
1,800 to 3,200 miles (2,897 to 5,150km). So, still the
inner core the more deeper then mantel, and outer
core.
Continental and Oceanic
What are the 2 types of crust? Okay who can recall
from the video?
Very good!
The continental is less dense thicker and mainly
compose of granite. The oceanic crust is denser and
thinner and mainly compose of basalt.
ELABORATE (Students apply the information in the explain)
So, right now that we are done with our lesson, I am
going to give you an activity. I will divide the class in to
2 groups. Each group will create a model showing the
four layers of earth: the crust, mantel, inner core, and
outer core. After creating you need to explain or the
describe your work in a creative way, :

Group 1 will perform in a role play way and the group

two is in a news reporting way.

Are the instructions clear? Yes Ma’am!

You have 5 minutes to create the model and prepare (students do their task)
your performance.

(let’s assume that the students are done performing)

Very good! Okay everyone give your selves a mommy

dionisia clap for a job well done. (students clap their hands)

EVALUATE (How will you know the students learned the concept?)
