Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol A Commonly used Message Protocol. Advant Technology uses this for :
X-Terminal Communications. SQL Communications among Oracle Data Bases. Communication to Printers.
File transfers among Advant Stations.
Used to transfer Non-Real time Data (Example: Display and File Transfers, X-Terminal Communications and SQL Communications among oracle data base) between Advant Stations using TCP/IP Protocol. Used by Certain Applications automatically without explicit action by User.

Process I/O Options
The MOD 300 system supports a wide variety of I/O options to meet various project requirements. I/O strategies can be selected independent of the choice of control techniques, and any combination of I/O strategy and control language is valid. Selection can be based on minimizing installation costs, and/or per point costs or maximising security.
Taylor Remote I/O
Direct I/O (Model C and SC) High Density I/O (Multibus only) S100 (Advant AC460 and AC410) S800 (Advant AC460 and AC410)

Control Software
3 Powerful Control packages
CCF(Configurable Control Functions) TCL(Taylor Control Language) TLL (Taylor Ladder Logic)
All these Software can be combined and executed
simultaneously in any Advant Station or Controller Subsystem. All three Control Languages are backed up as a part of controller redundancy scheme. If a controller fails, all of its functions including CCF, TCL, TLL are Bumplessly transferred to Backup Controller with no interruption to the process.
Slide 2 - 12
ABB Automation
Advant Basics
Configurable Control Functions(CCF)
The CCF software provides comprehensive capabilities from a pre-programmed library of functions Uses Menu driven, Fill in the Blanks approach of Configuration Does not Require Programming Ideal for Continuous control, Device Handling, Interlocking and Alarm Handling.
Taylor Control Language(TCL)
A Structured high Level Language Ideally Suits Sequential/Batch Control, Complex arithmetic and logic functions, Supervisory tasks such as start-ups and shutdowns and serial interface to third party equipment.
Slide 2 - 13

Taylor Ladder Logic (TLL)
Provides High Speed, Industry Standard Ladder Logic Control Processing. Ideal for Device Interlocking, Motor Control and Drum Programming device Sequencing. Reduces the need for Separate Programmable controllers that create additional support and Maintenance costs.

All devices are Connected to SCSI Port of the
Advant Station. Devices are Daisy Chained with Each item having a SCSI Address ranging from 0 to 7. SCSI Interface to Mother Board is at address 7. Boot disk should be at the address higher than any device. Hence Boot Hard disk has address 6. Two hard disks can be connected to the Advant Station. Second disk (Data Disk) is hence addressed 5.
Slide 2 - 25

SCSI addresses are assigned conventionally as follows:
SCSI Address

2 3 4 5 6 7
Device
Floppy Drive CD-ROM Drive DAT Tape Drive I DAT Tape Drive II Data Hard Disk Boot Hard Disk System Unit SCSI Controller
SCSI Bus Length must not Exceed Six Meters including Internal Cabling. Last Device on the Bus must have a Bus Terminator.

SERIAL AND PARALLEL PORTS
Note : In addition, Network Printers, which are connected to TCP/IP Network can also be configured for Advant Stations.
ADVANT Stations have 2 Serial Ports(RS-232C Serial Interface) and 1 parallel port.(Centronics Parallel Interface) Each one of them can be connected to different peripheral devices such as printers. Dot Matrix printers which are used for Event /Alarm Logging, Report Printing etc., are connected to Serial Port of the Advant Stations Laser Printers which are used for Screen Copying are connected to Parallel port of the Advant Station

Slide 2 - 29
ABB Automation
Advant Basics
With a Powerful processor and On-board memory, the Real
Time Accelerator Board handles time-critical tasks such as real-time database management and DCN communications. The RTA board is a slave processor board with its own memory and two communication ports. The RTA board consists of a Mother board with a DCN Communication Module mounted on it. The on-board software is down-loaded to the RTA at start up of the Advant Station. The RTA is installed inside the System Unit on the EISA bus adapter. The communication connectors are available on the rear bulkhead of the System Unit.
