LESSON
1. What is Rufus?
2. What is Dos
Command?
OBJECTIVE OF THE LESSON
After going through this module, you are expected to:
1.Define and explain the Operating System.
2.Identify types of operating systems and its
function.
3.Create Ven Diagram and Infographics.
4.Understand the function and different types of
operating systems.

WHAT IS OPERATING SYSTEM?
The operating system (OS) manages all of the software and hardware on the
computer. It performs basic tasks such as file, memory, and process
management, handling input and output, and controlling peripheral devices
such as disk drives and printers.
Most of the time, several different computer programs are running at the
same time, and they all need to access your computer’s central processing
unit (CPU), memory, and storage. The operating system coordinates all of this
to make sure each program gets what it needs.

Mac Os X

MacOS is the computer operating system (OS) for Apple desktops

and laptops. It is a proprietary graphical OS that powers every Mac.

OSes interact with a computer's hardware, allocating the resources

necessary to complete tasks given to it -- for example, running an
application. OSes allocate resources including memory, processing
power and file storage.

MacOS performance is generally quick and responsive due to the OS

being optimized for the specific hardware. Apple releases a new
version of macOS approximately every year.

MacOS was introduced in 1984 to run Macintosh personal computers

(PCs). The OS helped make graphical user interfaces (GUIs) popular,
even inspiring Microsoft to move away from its user input method in
favor of using GUIs for Windows OSes.

As of October 2021, the current version of macOS is macOS 12

Monterey.

LINUX OS FAMILY
LINUX OS

Linux® is an open source operating

system (OS). It was originally
conceived of and created as a hobby
by Linus Torvalds in 1991. Linus,
while at university, sought to create an
alternative, free, open source version
of the MINIX operating system, which
was itself based on the principles and
design of Unix.
DEBIAN
Debian, also known as
Debian GNU/Linux, is a Linux
distribution composed of
free and open-source
software, developed by the
community-supported
Debian Project, which was
established by Ian Murdock
on August 16, 1993.
FEDORA LINUX
Fedora Linux is a Linux
distribution developed by the
Fedora Project. It contains
software distributed under various
free and open-source licenses and
aims to be on the leading edge of
open-source technologies. It is the
upstream source for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux.
UBUNTU
Ubuntu is a free and open-source Linux
distribution based on Debian. Ubuntu is
officially released in October 20, 2004
there are three editions: Desktop, Server,
and Core. Ubuntu is a Linux-based
operating system. It is designed for
computers, smartphones, and network
servers. The system is developed by a UK
based company called Canonical Ltd. All
the principles used to develop the Ubuntu
software are based on the principles of
Open Source software development.
ANDROID OS
ANDROID OS
Android is a mobile operating system based
on a modified version of the Linux kernel
and other open-source software, designed
primarily for touchscreen mobile devices
such as smartphones and tablets.
A mobile operating system (OS) is software
that allows smartphones, tablet PCs (personal
computers) and other devices to run
applications and programs. A mobile OS
typically starts up when a device powers on,
presenting a screen with icons or tiles that present
information and provide application access.
ACTIVITY (GROUPINGS)
Create a Ven diagram to distinguish
each Operating system's similarities
and unique Functions.
