The Global Networks and Communities Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, strategy, operations, and governance of the IET’s Local and Technical Networks as well as the Online EngX Community.
Responsible for the governance of communities committees (CCs) including budgeting, strategy and operations.
The Community Managers (CMs) work closely with volunteers to develop IET communities.
CMs offer strategic development support to new and existing groups as well as acting as a key liaison point for the IET and facilitating engagement with the wider IET.
The CM team provide help with planning and budgeting, volunteer recruitment, engagement with other institutions, and help to identify opportunities for communities.
Local Network Managers (LNMs) support IET local networks around the world, both online and with physical activities and empowering volunteers to develop, lead and promote thriving communities.
The Online Community Manager oversees the IET EngX online community, making sure it is a friendly, useful space where engineers can share ideas, ask questions, and connect. This includes helping shape the content, supporting contributors, and ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes.

Career Manager is an online tool that allows you to plan and record your professional development and apply for professional registration. We provide support to our members using the tool as well as the planning and implementation of projects to develop and promote new versions of Career Manager.
We oversee the IET’s policy on Continuing Professional Development (CPD), managing the annual review of a random sample of TMIET, MIET and FIET members’ records, reporting into the various associated committees and overseeing the work of Volunteer CPD Advisors.
We support engineers and those supporting them as they work toward professional registration as CEng, IEng, EngTech or ICTTech. It encompasses the IET’s Competence Development service for Professional Registration and developing engineers in the process of competence development.
Our mentoring service aims to pair developing engineers with a peer who can help guide them towards professional registration. Mentors are given full training and the tools to establish a great working relationship with workshops running throughout the year.
We manage a varied portfolio of face-to-face and online training courses that are delivered publicly and in-company.
