Pancho Barraza on Tour
From his debut album onward, Mexican singer-songwriter Pancho Barraza paved his way to banda's most tender and romantic side, las romántica. He's also dabbled in mariachi — his 1997 album, Invéntame Un Amor, featured the cumbia chart-topping song "Pero La Recuerdo."
By his fourth release, El Vagabundo Que Te Ama, the lovelorn crooner proved that his expertise lies in his adventurous banda romancers. That 1998 album offered "Mi Enemigo El Amor" — a heartrending smash whose online streams have been clocked at 44 million on Spotify. To date, Barraza boasts nearly 40 albums, including numerous live recordings and compilations.
In 2018 alone, the prolific performer released two studio albums, Más Fuerte Que Nunca and Un Sueño, as well as two live albums — En Vivo Telmex and En Vivo Palenque, Guadalajara. March 2019 marks the start of a North American tour beginning at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theatre. Audiences can expect to be transported by the classic big-band sounds of Mexican traditional music.
Pancho Barraza Background
Born in the small town of Juan José Ríos in Sinaloa, Mexico, in 1961, Francisco Javier Barraza Rodríguez (aka Pancho Barraza) demonstrated his musical prowess at a young age by participating in local musical contests. Evolving his craft as a singer-songwriter, Barraza decided to enroll at the Bénemerita Escuela Normal to become a music instructor, and by age 22 he was teaching at a middle school in Villa Unión.
Around that time, Barraza joined the town's church choir, and he also became a bassist for a group called Karisma. By the late 1980s, he'd immersed himself in the burgeoning scene of regional Mexican music along with Banda San Sebastian and Banda Camino, before making his mark with the now-famous Banda Sinaloense Los Recoditos in the genre's hotbed of Mazatlán.
With a riveting lineup that included Poncho Lizarraga, Enrique Valdez, and siblings Victor, Miguel, and Silvano Sarabia — and Barraza fronting Los Recoditos — the big-band ensemble released their debut in 1990, A Bailar de Caballito. He led the band until 1995, when he launched his solo career with Mis Canciones de Amor, backed by Banda Santa María.
I loved it. I had so much fun. Pancho Barraza songs are awesome. I can still hear the echo of this great concert.
Pancho was on time, and started the concert. Music and sound was great. I definitively love it. I wish he could come again next year on the thanksgiving weekend to Buffalo or Vegas
came into the venue hoping it would be good. Boy was I wrong, it was Fantastic got my money's worth and a bit more! He sang almost 3 hours strait not much talking, he had a full show with his regular band and the mariachi. he sang his classics his hits and covers. He did not disappoint; we would 100% recommend and would go again!
Amazing as always Pancho Barraza is truly one of the best mexican artists so proud to represent Mexico 🇲🇽 💕💕
I love everything about it once of the best concerts I’ve been to so far
Absolutely loved his concert! The sound the view and especially the ticket price was amazing !
You can feel how much Pancho put in his heart and soul in this concert-we enjoyed every bit of it-he never dissapoints. My only disappoint was one of the staff at You Tube theater, our favorite song came on, Musica Romamtica, around 10:39pm and shortly aftet i started to record Pancho's performance of our gavorite song, an usher interupted me demanding to see our tix, i told him it was on my phone and i was recording, he persisted so i had to stop recording, log into app to gey my tix, all this only to telocate my husband who sat in empty chair to my right because his seat was to my left but this man with a huge hat blocked his vision, so my husband sat to my left again and two men that were rather drunk were seated next to me, whether or not they knew this usher who got them seat 5 and 6, Row6 section B, i dont know, but it was a bit strange they were seated at 10:39pm and wete already drunk-the usher and those drunk men ruined the rest of our night, i was going to request to speak to ushers boss but my husband talked me out of it.
His concert was one of the best concerts I have ever seen and enjoyed. He was great!
