Thess vs Yet More Incompetence
Today was just ... made of ridiculous. Then again, the last couple of days haven't been much better just in general, but still, today was beyond the pale, all making a mockery of chronological order.
- Logged in to find 260 reports in the queue. No great surprise, but at least Goblin was in so I was hoping we'd at least make a bit of a dent.
- The usual cherry-picking of short reports, which meant that a fair few from later yesterday afternoon were done before yesterday morning's reportss were finished. Thankfully Goblin's presence meant I didn't get all the Monstrosities this time.
- One of my tasks once I've done with the stupid supplemental reports is going into the group email inbox and tick off the ones they forwarded to me as Completed, then to stick them in the Dealt With subfolder. (Goblin never does this. I just leave hers alone). I found one that was still hanging around as a draft. They were going to send it to Goblin, but the draft was just ... sitting there, unsent, and the supplementary was not done. I sent it to myself, marked it as Complete, and did it myself, because I don't want patients to suffer for my team's stupidity.
- 4pm, big wodge of reports hit the queue. I checked, because when that happens late in the day, it's usually urgent cases. It was not urgent cases this time - it was a dozen reports, some from 9am or so, some from 2pm or so (we were into the 3:30pm sort of range, so entirely out of chronological order), all from the same doctor. Apparently someone had sat on those all fucking day and dumped them back in the queue when it was time for them to go home. I think they figured "this doctor usually does skin cases, and those don't tend to be urgent". The problem is that this doctor does not only do skin cases; some of them are gastric, and those need to be prioritised, and half of the cases they threw back were gastric. They weren't even all that long! They just ... didn't do them! I mean, of course, they were over a minute long, so I couldn't possibly expect them to just type in fucking chronological order when there are cases that long... (behold, sarcasm; I've had just about enough)
- 5:05pm, so close of play for most (I work until 5:30pm on Thursdays and Fridays). They email me a supplementary. I'm still trying to get the bits I took out of the queue done so I'm not like my fucking colleagues biting off more than they can chew and throwing stuff back into the queue at the end of the workday, which Twerper told us not to do. So I take those ones, because I may have a solid number of cases in my queue, but I'm not leaving ones from nine in the fucking morning yesterday to sit and rot.
- 5:15pm - queue expands to just over 270 cases, most of the new ones being urgent. I've still got a half-dozen cases in my queue and the supplementary, I've been working far too quickly for my health, I haven't taken enough breaks today, and I feel like screaming because this place is run so abysmally. (And pain. Screaming from pain was an option.)
- Logged out a few minutes late with about 265 cases in the queue, after having done a few quick urgents because ... well, I actually care. Not about the company or whatever, but about the patients attached to those cases.
- Oh, I should mention that Twerp is out for the rest of the week, which is why we're down a typist. Not that it matters that much, since Twerp is one of the ones who picks out the shorter and easier bits of dictation and helps shoot chronological order in the foot, despite being management and thus is supposed to enforce the chronological order thing.
Long story short, we're not doing well. And I have two days off next week. I dread to think how the place is going to look after that. And tomorrow? I can barely even think about tomorrow right now.
I'm just going to curl up and whimper for awhile.
