@Feliciano But you signed up for a site where item retirement was already established. Nothing has been changed on you. You haven't been promised these items, and they haven't been taken away from you. The admins keeping those items retired doesn't invalidate anything you've done. In any case, unretiring items doesn't really solve the heart of the problem, which is not to make sprites available to new players:
We want for this to be slow enough, costly enough, and unpredicatable enough that players who were there for old events and picked up extra copies of items can still sell to future players at a tidy profit. At the same time, we want for a way for this trickle to happen, so items don't disappear from circulation except when resold in the millions of treasure.
It can't be both ways. Either the items are retired and become valuable/can be sold for profit, or they trickle in and aren't valuable. This has already been demonstrated on this site, as well as other pet sites. The boxes aren't the solution to the problem the admins are trying to solve. @Grandeur To give you some context, there was a vote on the Bears and if they would be permanently retired or not. But at the time the Sprites were introduced, there wasn't much of a community to do a vote. Combine that with the fact that early festivals were riddled with lag, downtimes, and just the fact that very few people knew what they were doing and didn't have level 25 teams. There were few/no guides on how to use the coli, what builds to use, where to farm for currency. Additionally, the admins have put a lot of work into elementally balancing the venues, where it was never that way before. tl;dr, the earlier sprites were extremely hard to get, even during the festival. As such, they're extremely rare.
The bearded vulture familiars are sooo awesome and I need the lighter coloured one!! Just gotta wait for someone to figure out where we have to gather. As for the boxes, I... kind of don't like the idea? Instead of helping your new players I feel you are screwing them over as anything they pick up from the festival will already have a decreased value thanks to the boxes, making it even harder to save up for the ridiculously expensive stuff. Not to mention the amount of multi-accounters will soar. That's not even up for debate, people will abuse that mechanic. Honestly, as far as re-releasing old festival items goes, I really think it should be either everything or nothing at all. This special treatment given to the 2013-2014 item run really just makes it look like staff is playing to the wishes of the elite. I do not understand why it was the only year of festival items not to be re-released in some capacity; the only reason I can think is to not annoy the people who get some feeling of status out of it. To be clear, I don't think they should be easy to get by any means, otherwise it would be boring, but the Light Sprite is currently sitting at nearly 50k gems and the only people who can make that kind of money are the kind that are monetarily privileged in real life and I don't think that's a good basis for a virtual website to build itself on. Hope you don't mind my two cents on the matter!
@Rhi As an old player with all the Sprites I'd like to add that the only reason I'm holding onto them is for their Bestiary entries. If the entries would remain "unlocked" even after you've traded/sold all the instances of the familiar and have none in your possession, I would definitely be tempted to sell my Sprites. I just want a nice coloured Bestiary ;__;

@Peixes Well thank you for the context. I still wish they'd get rid of the bears, I'm tired of constantly seeing them in my hoard every festival. >:l

I melt down so many only for more to pop up, it's awful.
