seriously what's been going on with the drop rates?
It was perfectly fine last year what happened?
A lot of people are just saying "oh well you know, RNG" but I highly doubt it with some getting incredibly high luck and others are so miniscule they may as well not participate.

As much as I love Notn, I'm not really enjoying this years festival. Last year I was at able to get 20-30 boxes a day just from casual fighting every hour or so, with some extra ones from swipp, baldwin and gathering. However, this year I'm barely getting 10 a day including the other methods. I'm lucky if I even get one box from gathering.
Even when I do find a box, it's usually just filled with previous year's apparel. I would have much rather had the new apparel in the item pool for the boxes while previous years are able to be bought or crafted.

Exactly.
I havent been able to get a single box today for the coli! I've been grinding through at least 200 or more battles in the training grounds, waterway, and Savannah for over an hour!
Why is it that a couple players are getting like 50 a day and most of us barely get 10 every 2!

It wouldn't bother me as much if I knew I was going to get something new, but at this point I can't really bothered putting any more effort in if all I'm getting is old apparel.

if the drop rates are gonna be this low, chests should only contain new stuff :/ there's gotta be another way to structure this event

Honestly I don't see why so many seem surprised. Every single NotN has had atrocious drop rates, either one extreme with WAY too many chests with only junk inside(the first NotN was a nightmare) or no chests at all with LOTS of new, cool items to collect. This seems like a case of the latter, given how in the first day my friends and I all only got 2-3 chests from the 30 gathering turns. It's ridiculous.
As I've said multiple times over the years, I absolutely loathe this event. It literally has no reason to exist and seeing it brought back every year always makes me groan in dread. It's pointless both lore and game wise, and every.single.year NotN has been so poorly managed it's quite impressive. It's frustrating and stressful in a very busy time of the year and no words can describe how much I want this event to be retired.
