When I'm in the coliseum, I just realized I'm not gaining exp and even after I move rounds it doesn't add progress to my victory chain. Why am I not gaining exp or progress?
@ArcherWolf You won't get any exp if the level of the stage you're fighting in is more than five levels below the level of the dragon with the highest level in your team. For example, if your dragon is level 25 you won't get exp in stages below level 20.

Alright thanks. I have a level 15 and I was fighting in lower levels. I've tried higher levels a few times before, but my team dies.

You might want to start over with a new team of 3, this time following EeveeDream's Leveling Guide. The Coliseum is not balanced for evenly-spread stats, and favors frail-but-powerful "glass cannon" builds for efficiency and survivability.
Training with higher-level dragons typically only happens with Level 25 dragons that have dedicated training builds, most commonly "2-fodder trainers" that can train 2 dragons in the Mire venue for the best EXP gain. You can see a list of such builds here.
