In 2013, the Sea of a Thousand Currents was labeled a body of fresh water. That shouldn't have happened and it's well past time to fix it.
The Sea of a Thousand Currents is now officially saltwater.
Yes, this is a retcon. It should have been saltwater from the start, what with the coral and all. [emoji=guardian tongue size=2]

Wait, does that mean there's no major source of fresh water in all of Sornieth (or at least the parts we've seen)? Most of the water in the Windswept Plateau comes from the Sea of a Thousand Currents, the Viridian Labyrinth is surrounded by the ocean and its major river connects to the ocean on both ends, the major river in the Tangled Wood connects to the ocean on one end and the Sea of a Thousand Currents on the other, and the major river in the Starfall Isles also connects to the ocean on both ends. The only separate bodies of water are a few scattered ponds in the Everbloom Gardens and the Zephyr Steps, one pond in the Driftwood Drag, and maybe the source of the waterfalls between the Zephyr Steps and the Singer's Brook. Other than that it's all now salt water. And those ponds look like they might be stagnant.

Wait do the fathoms have gills along their ribcages?
Ooooohhhh good catch! Kinda does look that way, doesn't it?
i suppose it would make sense that they have both gills and lungs considering blue fathom is screaming about being pulled out of the shipwreck LOL otherwise they'd drown

I suspect that like 'normal' topography, many rivers and creeks flow and join and meet up/into the sea, and that it is a source of transportation and fish, but doesn't need to be a source of (unfiltered) water - also - magic.

Does our spinning pink fathom friend have a name? Because they're hilarious and I love the fact they're always spinning. Best visual gag, 10/10

So these are currently the theories I've got regarding Fathoms:
they have nostrils on the top of their head and/or close to the eyes
this is such a good catch and it made me look closer at these guys! being an aquatic breed i think their nostrils would be elsewhere, and merrigan doesn't seem to have them on the tip of his snout? it's very hard to make out but the green fathom appears to have something like a blowhole on top of their head(where the bubbles are coming out)... i really hope they do have unconventional nostrils, that would be so cool!!

Aequorin Can we make sure that the third dive is either started before Shavuout or the time to turn in items for the rewards ends after the holiday? The Jewish holiday of Shavuout is from sundown Tuesday 6/11 through sundown Thursday 6/13 and Orthodox Jews will not be able to use electronics during this time. Thank you for your consideration an focus on inclusivity!

@kschaef
I love the spin-y pink derg! XDXD I hope somebody makes a gif of that for sigs. [emoji=tundra laughing size=1] The SoaTC being saltwater makes MUCH more sense, though I can understand people not being happy about the retcon.
The new familiar looks like a combination of orca and maybe leopard seal? Something about the whiskered face says 'seal' to me at any rate, though it's hard to tell from the dark color of the muzzle.

NOTE: Dergs in my lair with scries are just ideas, & are subject to change/not final.
I am hopeing that the fathoms are gonna be modern dragons, i have so many ideas that all hinge on clothing.
Considering the last event similar to this brought the second earth modern, i can only hope this is a similar venture.
Either way, yay new dragon breed, and happy 11th anniversary to Flight rising!!

Do we know what colors the fathoms in the bubbles are? I want to have my very own silly spinning pink child, and want to know what colors I need to make this happen. Pink/Raspberry seems close but if there are official colors I'd love to know!
