TOPIC | allow swipp trades with locked items
Support, please. From comments on the announcement post, it sounds like any locked items were never intended to be able to be traded in the first place, and this is "fixing" that - but if this is the case, then what is the point of the vault, and what is the difference between locking an item and vaulting it? I mainly lock items for Baldwin melting and vault my Swipp materials, but this does make me dread the day they update Baldwin's ui to match Sophie's. If my items are not locked I am going to forget and convert them into food points, but if they're locked then I won't be able to use them in the feature I am keeping them for :(

StarNinja's suggestion of a confirmation popup could help; I have also seen a thread suggesting custom item locks that allow players to determine where exactly locked items can be used. I don't know what sort of coding overhaul that would require, but it feels like the best of both worlds - the players who want all locked items to be untradeable in any way would be satisfied, and the players who lock items to prevent hoardselling but would still like to trade items in gameplay would also be satisfied
No support. Isn't that the point of locking items?
that's what the vault is for. if someone really doesn't want an item to be consumed it should go in there, since that's kinda its whole purpose

effect-free lair
if it's not in the sales tab it's not for sale
or simply two locks? "no hoardsell" vs everything else.

i considered the hoard lock strictly hoardsell protection, and used it thus, including for swipp ingredients, making this a frustrating change.

an ability to keep the old functionality for those who want it, whilst also retaining the new functionality for those who want that seems the best solution here.

No support. If Crim can no longer take locked items, then I want the same treatment of locked items everywhere else on site.
Crim is an item destroyer like hoardselling, baldwin melting, and sophie spinning which are indiscriminate in what can be tossed in there. A 10fp item is the same as a 2fp item is the same as a boss familiar is the same as a birdskull. That's why these items are hidden from those particular parts of the features. Full support! Not to beat a dead horse but if people don't want an item to be used for anything including the Swap Stand, that's what the vault was for. When locking items was first implemented, the whole concept of it seemed to me like it was a way to protect your items from being carelessly discarded, while still having them readily available in your main hoard for when they do actually need to be used. Keeping locked items from being able to be used in trades, especially when people are likely locking these items specifically for said trades, defeats the purpose entirely.

I do agree that a good possible compromise to this is having a confirmation popup whenever you try to make a trade using locked items.

Support, I think the fact that this is a common reason people lock items and the fact it directly shows what you're trading for and how many can be enough to assume someone probably knows what they're getting into unlike accidentally putting a random item into baldwin you forgot you needed

support. running into that wall in swipp today was surprising! i have filtered my entire hoard by items used in recipes, and locked them to keep them safe - having that feature reversed and disrupting the way a bunch of people trade is unfun.
Support! Not being able to hoardsell or otherwise destroy items via Baldwin, Sophie, Crim makes sense. Preventing them from being used in their intended feature does not.
No support. For me, personally, if I lock something in my hoard, it is because I don't want to accidentally use it, and that would include in swipp.
Those items belong in your Vault
Agree. I only lock items so is don't sell or consume items/food which i need for trade. Let us use locked items. If ppl don't want to use an item at all...put it in Vault

Support. This affects me mainly food-wise; I lock trade items so I don't accidentally convert when I'm mass converting food. I do not like having to unlock food like the mums to use in Swipp's, because I can see myself accidentally converting them. Unlike hoardselling, you can't get converted items back.

And I want to keep them in my hoard for ease of use, especially since it skips me having to check if I actually have enough if they're stored in the vault (I only vault things I hoard and festival currency so it doesn't take a lot of space in my hoard). I don't want to have to shove the food I need for trades and stuff in the vault :< Especially since there's a small chance this feature could be added for Sophie/Baldwin recipes. I hope not. I really do not like it.

For Crim, it's fine. Besides, stuff like Crim (and choosing an item to melt for Baldwin/Sophie is kinda the same way) tends to be more "autopilot" for people, more prone to accidental selling than accidentally trading an item to swipp and co instead, especially since you're choosing to gather a bunch of items to trade. Different mechanic, doesn't need the same feature.

Crim/Baldwin/Sophie are more likely to be affected by misclicks, while Swipp is not. Choosing a specific trade is not the same as choosing a random item to turn into goo.
