@NoirVogelchen - Yes! I have a huge problem with this. I can exalt Gen 1's that don't have good colors, but I can never exalt them if they have good colors and it takes me forever to sell them. A lot of times though, I end up keeping them after we get new breeds or genes and I finally decide they can fit my lair. It has saved me so much money to use Gen 1's I already own rather than buying new ones or hatching eggs (that are rarely pretty).
Here is an example of a Gen 1 that was in my sale tab, but I found a Thorntail scry that I like, so he has moved to the projects tab.

And all these were ones I was going to get rid of but then Cirrus were released and have now ended up as permas.

These are just waiting for genes.

I've tried to divide my Gen 1's into okay with selling and undecided. Sometimes dragons will move around between those 2 tabs and my project tab. Then I've been putting 1 dragon from the Sales tab in my hibden and moving it to my lair and listing it for sale. Once it sell then another moves to the lair for listing.
I am doing really good though, I've got only 19 Gen 1's that are either going to be for sale or undecided. That's way, way less than I had back in May when I started my effort to get dragons gened up or out of my lair. I had 94 project dragons back then. O.O

Every now and then, I get a G1 that looks like it has dud colors until I give it some proper attention in the scrying workshop (also maybe a skin, UMAs are the MVPs of saving bad colors). An example would be this boggie egg I brewed and hatched that had an (in my opinion) unpleasant green secondary. He worked out surprisingly well as a Veilspun.

I've also experienced the inverse: I've exalted/scattered G1s that had base colors I LIKED, but I couldn't find genes that fit them. I had a Blackberry/Copper/Flaxen G1 that I hung onto for so long because I liked his palette! But I couldn't make his genes work in a way that I liked. Eventually, I just scattered him.
I've got an entire tab full of "inspiration pending" G1s because I like their colors together, but I haven't come up with a good scry for them yet. I'm hesitant to let them go, but every now and then I come back to them and give them another round in the scrying workshop. Some work out. Some don't. Some make me go "Ew, what did I see in this? Exalt that thing immediately, it's just taking up space."

I honour them in this guy's bio! I save a scry, edit it over the Water Exalt Pillar (since I'm in Water, of course lol if I ever switched flights I'd save those guys to whatever pillar I had then, even though functionally all exalted dragons switch with you), and include some info like the level I trained them to and what date they were exalted on. It makes me feel less bad.
I only semi-recently started this and don't hatch G1s too often, so it's not a very long list at the moment. But NotN might change that lol

HSoup that thorntail scry is beautiful! I currently have 60+ modern projects and probably 80+ ancient ones. Quite a few I've fallen out of love with, but still keep because of their colors. I definitely should have a separate tab for them!

SilverArowana That's a really cool idea! I might have to try something similar.
