I just checked as well. I have about 30 of each food item but around 300 of each trinket.

I have no idea why the higgins trades were purposefully made unbalanced, unless the original intent was to change it up year to year or something. Also, if anything it would be better to have leftover food so you could convert it to food points.

I do hoardsell stacks of the trinkets because there is really no point to have hundreds of those things still sitting there until next year when I am just going to gather hundreds more.

I actually figured they don't want people to have an excess of food at the end to convert to food points, since that's a pretty stable player market. So maybe on purpose?

Normally, with coli drops, trinkets drop rarer than food items.
And I guess that's why they weighted the trades this way.
However, if both actually do drop equally, then you get a huge excess of trinkets.

Considering the fact we have specific food microholidays and one other holiday with food currency, I don't think this is true. I think Shakura here has it exactly.

Back in the olden days, we only got drops from coli. (well back in the really olden days we only got them through opening chests. The first NotN sounds wild, but I wasn't there until the second) There were no trinkets nor food to be gained while gathering, only chests. There was nothing gained by familiar bonding. You got drops from the coliseum, and the Swipp trades were balanced with the drop rates of food vs trinkets from the coli in mind. I very much doubt that they had anything malicious in mind when they moved the trades to Higgins, they probably didn't think about how the new mechanics would effect things at the time, and although by now they likely are aware of it, reworking things takes time and I've gotten the impression that they're a pretty small crew for what they do. They have other priorities, and it's not like hoard selling a pile of tickets is a problem.
