People who have lore for their clans or individual dragons, what's your personal preference for involving official site lore into your personal lore? Like, let's say, on a scale of 0-10, how much do you try to make your own lore fit with the official stuff? 0 being "my stuff is entirely from-scratch and doesn't involve any official FR lore," and 10 being "I want it to feel like my dragons are perfectly meshed into the world and history of Sornieth."
Personally, I'd say I'm around a 4. I find the flight system really charming (yay! elements! categories!!!) and spending time doing Arcane dom has made me fond of working flight-specific elements into my things... and I just sort of have a penchant for fanfiction :) But I also don't really care about things like breed traits for the most part, and I've never actually read any of the Lorebook... so I tend to make my dragons' lore sort of inspired by the FR world rather than... fitting into it, so to speak.
How do y'all feel about it? :>

I'm probably like 2/10. My lair is canonically outside of Sornieth, but Sornieth is still a place in the extended cinematic universe. So we have dragons coming and going, we get imports of Joxar goods every fest, etc.
In general, anything cultural does not apply here. We have our own culture. So, for example, faes do not spin roosts from tree sap (they live in apartments like normal dragons). Snappers are not nomadic (unless a particular snapper decides to be a wanderer/traveler, but that would be a personal decision).
But world events exist in a general sense. For instance, Tidelord is missing, and my clan certainly has Tidelord enthusiasts posting wild theories at 2 am on the dragon equivalent of r/tidelord. One exception: For ancient breed releases, I mostly retcon them into "they were here all along." (So I think it's neat the official lore also seems to be leaning in that direction.)
One more divergence from official lore: Eye type doesn't necessarily indicate birth flight (I don't want to be locked into "every dragon with non-lightning eyes is an immigrant," although a lot of them are).

Probably a... 6.5/10?
I like to include different aspect of dragons when writing the lore, like how coatls have difficulty communicating to other dragons by making their speech a have little grammatical errors. Nothing major but I have fun with it. I like having my lore align at least a little with the actual sornieth lore but I definitely move away from it with some aspects : P

Probably a 7/10, though I am a full decade behind on official lore, so maybe it's more 5 or 6?
The lair is built on the Zephyr Steppes because canon paints it as a safe, central, accessible area, the traveling sky-pirate airship is crewed by Snappers because it scratches their nomadic itch, the Steppe holds Windy values like sharing stories, creative expression, freedom etc.
I get most loosey goosey with Beastclans, since official lore is kind of sparse. My lair strives to establish peaceful diplomatic relations with the funky lil dudes under Talona's banner, with mixed success but unwavering optimism.

It depends, usually around a 7/10. I try to incorporate site lore when I can, since it often is legitimately interesting, but I think of it as more of a template or tool as opposed to something I have to follow very closely.
I feel like breed characteristics are one of the things I tend to avoid being too strict with. Those characteristics can apply to a dragon of that breed, but they don't have to.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
Probably a solid 8.5-9 out of 10. The only lore clashing thing we have is that there's a "desert" in Arcane's territory, and a lore about the specific area having rapidly changing climate and ground due to the Arcane influence.
Hopefully this makes sense I've been awake for like 2 minutes haha

I'd say probably somewhere around 7/10. My lore is set at an anomalous point in the future so that I can handwave things like new breeds away as having always been there and not have to worry about new lore developments on the site - it can be as integrated or not as I want it to be and it gives me a little bit of freedom to assume that certain things have been resolved (like, y'know, Tidepapa coming home).
I also take liberties with some things - like dragon sizes and lifespans. I imagine their sizes to be less drastically different than they would be going by site numbers. A Ridgeback is still bigger than a Dusthide or Everlux, but not so drastically so that it'd be a realistic concern that the Ridgie might not see their smaller clanmates while walking through a common area. I also much prefer the 'dragons are functionally immortal' approach to them aging because it gives me a lot more freedom to write dragons that have been around and seen a lot of history, and I don't want to have to worry about which breeds canonically live longer than others. Saying 'this dragon wouldn't have knowledge of BotE stuff because it'd be physically impossible for them to live that long' is a limitation I just don't want to deal with.

Maybe 5? I do use the site lore as a springing board and framework but thats really the extent of it. Breed traits are probably the case most where either they align with what I like perfectly or they don't and I completely ignore them. Anything with regards to lifespan or traditional family structures are all things I especially toss aside.

I've thought about this scale a lot and I'd say I'm about an 8 on it, where 10 is like strictly site lore. 8 for me is like, mostly site lore, everyone is on Sornieth, deities are a thing, breed affects the lore (Huge fan of guardian lore). But I also introduce my own elements as well like dual element dragons, new deities, and the fact that it takes place some time in the future where dominance is not a thing anymore and mixed breed villages and towns are much more popular than lairs.
By the way i thought about what this scale could look like and i wanted to put it here. It's definitely not perfect but it definitely lets me put my own lair into perspective.
10 - 100% site lore compliant
9 - Mostly compliant, but I allow some exceptions to the rule. Keeps things fresh.
8 - I love reading the encylopedia, but also there's some parts I just choose to be not true. (Dragon sizes, breed characteristics)
7 - I like to give my dragons jobs and stuff but I don't really go further than that.
6 - Sornieth is a part of a multiverse where characters from other universes are sometimes reborn as dragons on Sornieth so this way I can include my favourite fictional character in my lore.
5 - Sornieth is like a sister universe to my world. Some of my dragons can travel to it via world hopping/dimension shifting, but it's not really about Sornieth. (Sornieth AUs also goes here like Sornieth but Sci Fi with time travel and AI and giant robots)
4 - So dragons are still dragons in my lore, but I've basically made up my own world and I don't use any of the encyclopedia at all.
3 - My lore revolves around my pantheon of dragon gods and there's this epic galaxy/universe wide spanning story that I'm planning for all of them. It's gonna be awesome.
2 - None of my dragons are actually dragons. They're humans/faes/SCPs/incarnations of fictional characters from other franchises and they all hang out together.
1 - I've got a dragon called PepperAndCheese. He's got a cool mustache and talks in a funny voice.
0 - What lore?
(Quick note: I think lore at any of these levels is okay and the fact that you're writing at all is awesome. Your lore is your lore and you can do whatever you want with it, and that's the beauty of Flight Rising)

Come visit my lore lair! It's a fun time here.
Something strange is happening on Sornieth. All across the world, dragons have begun to be born with multiple elements. How? Why? As dragons all across Sornieth takes notice, the wheel of fate begins to turn, as one fae's search for her mysterious origins leads her down a path that could change Sornieth forever.
I'm a solid 10 :) my characters exist in Sornieth and my lore has been advancing with the release of new breeds and site events. It helps keep me engaged on both the site and on my characters. It feels like they are always evolving.
It also helps me run forum-based RPG games for my flight, which I greatly enjoy!
