Perhaps the most iconic part of the Chinese New Year is the performance of Lion and Dragon dances—and today's theme asks you to create a look that emulates the vibrant colors, energy, and aesthetics of these dancers! The lion dance is the one many people think of first when it comes to these dances: it is a two-person dance performed in a single lion costume, often styled like a colorful version of China's many stone lions. In contrast, the dragon dance is performed by many dancers, who lift the dragon costume’s head and serpentine body on long poles. I chose an Aether hatchling because I remember seeing this video a while ago of lion dancers doing some sort of gymnastics or agility course, and I thought a little moth baby would encapsulate that flexibility, while the tail hides the extra legs that would make it slightly inaccurate. Jupiter was the best fit for the undulating pattern of the costume, and Flair felt like a fun reference to fireworks. The Scales tert was actually the first decision I landed on, since it captures those big ol' eyebrows so well. I credit Kesslion for inspiring me to use Swirl eyes! So his brother will wear the fit in the meantime! From the word "go", I knew I had to use a Sea Slug Cloak. I was originally running with Red, but Pink ended up popping more against this very dark dragon. Then I thought, "aren't there those lion headdresses?" and tried out Wild, but those fangs simply wouldn't do. So I smacked a goofy little Fae Masque over it, as well as a Spiral Daze to complete the look. I layered some auras to convey his power, and then finished it up with some gloves and socks!
