he/him. very bisexual. might be a werewolf. occasional NSFW and horror. pfp is "The Noise Must Become Music" by Fumi Nakamura. blog title from Control by Remedy Entertainment.

Have you guys noticed how much the internet/technology just does not listen to you anymore? I click “don’t show this artist” on Spotify and I get recommended a music video by them on the front page. I click “skip this update” on a pop up every time I open a file organization app and it’s right back there every time. O click unsubscribe on a newsletter and it keeps showing up in my inbox!! I click “delete my account” and the next time I open the website they suggest I “reactivate”.

Power is a funny thing.

I think more fantasy fiction should use curse tablets. They were often made out of lead but you could also make them out of gold, wood, or clay.

The basic idea behind an Ancient Greek or Roman curse tablet is that you buy the tablet from a holy spot like a temple or spring and then you write a message to the god of that location asking them to curse someone.

Curse tablets could be hung on temple walls, thrown in holy springs or lakes, or tied to trees.

You could have rivers or lakes glittering with golden curse tablets, metal or wooden curse tablets swaying in the breeze in a sacred grove and bumping into each other like wind chimes, a giant bulletin board on the side of a temple covered in curse tablets that essentially becomes a petty anonymous callout board.

If gods are characters in your world you could show them invisibly or otherwise going through their curse requests. Fishing them out of their river, reading the message board, etc.

You can also go with prayer tablets or paper or ribbon prayer notes like what people post at Shinto or Buddhist shrines but those are too sweet and nice. Curse tablets can cause drama. Hatred. Curse the bitch who stole your towel at the sacred baths. Just like the ancients used to do.

Fun Fact: The number one location where we find actual Roman curse tablets is near chariot race tracks, wishing ill fortune on the chariot drivers, the horses of the chariots, and the physical integrity of the chariots themselves.

Sports fans of today are weak.

insanely funny that they put anti-piracy ads on actual legit dvds back in the day. "hey you, person who presumably bought this dvd the legal way and doesn't pirate. here's an annoying ad we're going to make you watch. by the way did you know there's a way to download and watch this shit for free? well you do now. please don't use it. bye bye". i can't believe it didn't work out for them

I find it incredibly ironic how trfs claim that since gendered socialisation isn't real (true) transmascs can't experience misogyny (not true) while simultaneously calling transmascs terf socialised with afab fragility and a need to unlearn our white woman tears (ignoring the fact that many of the trfs saying this are white women talking to tmoc).

Which is it!?! Is gendered socialisation real and transmascs have afab fragility to unlearn, or are transmascs immune to being raised as girls in misogynistic society because no man can ever experience misogyny. Or is it both, and transmascs somehow manage to experience all of the privileges of afab childhood and absolutely none of the oppression because transmascs are evil and society loves us the most.

some people claim to be transfeminists and you look and their life's philosophy is that what's true is whatever hurts the disgusting foids in this particular moment

tv pitch: a completely average workplace sitcom except that it’s established at the end of the pilot that it takes place on the 90th floor of the world trade center in 2000. every episode the date is shown, just to build the sense of impending doom. the show is otherwise a completely generic the office ripoff. the intro sequence is a montage of airplanes taking off.

at the end of the second season, we reach 9/10/01. after six months of waiting, season 3 drops. now it’s 9/12/01. nothing has happened. the characters carry on as normal. fans of the series go insane. the show never explains what happened, and continues to pretend it’s a normal sitcom.

The best thing about the weird sugar baby requests that i have been getting (because I dared post a picture of my face) is that 1) I KNOW they're weird bots and 2) they're not even offering more money then my husband makes in a month

So like even if it was real, even if we had a terrible marriage and I was just married to him for the money and was willing to move on for a better offer (I am not, he is the only man I do not actively growl at including my father) - like your offers aren't even hitting big dogs

Update I was blocked 😂

Me: I got blocked!

Husband: by the wanna be sugar daddy?

Me: yeah

Husband: awww he didn't have enough sugar :(

"he/him lesbians arent valid-" "bi girls are bringing their boyfriends to pride-" "neopronouns are ruining the queer community-" "i hate polyamorous people -" "aroace people aren't really queer-" I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!!! I DON'T CARE!!! THE GOVERNMENT WANTS US DEAD!!!!! THEYRE TRYING TO MAKE LAWS AGAINST BEING QUEER!!!! CONVERSION THERAPY IS LEGAL IN 23 STATES!!!! WE HAVE BIGGER PROBLEMS THAN OTHER PEOPLES IDENTITY!!!!!

sometimes i get flashbacks on here to conversations i tried to have with conservatives re: white privilege - but it becomes apparent that irrespective of political alignment, a lot of people have the same kneejerk reaction to "you have privilege"

like you try to bring it up with a conservative white man and he'll say, "my life wasn't easy. I grew up in a trailer park, raised by a single mom who was also a drug addict, and I have never had things handed to me. I struggled." and it's just. yes! you were subject to classism! your mother also faced misogyny, and institutional medical obstacles regarding addiction/drug treatment. you were disadvantaged compared to people who didn't have to endure any those things, and what happened to you was devastating and real.

all that "white privilege" means is that you were also not dealing with racism on top of that. that's it. that's what it means.

but if you push on this point, the reaction then pivots to: "but i'm not racist. i haven't used that privilege to hurt black people. i don't 'wield' my privilege against them."

great! interpersonal conflict is very much not how privilege largely manifests, it's exercised by systems and institutions that are beyond the reach of you and your friends. you may not have done anything to your black friend, but if you both applied for a loan at the same bank, all other things being equal, there is a historical precedence for you, a white man, being given better terms and resources. that is white privilege. neither of you are the banker, the banker is exercising power over both of you in making this decision.

and so ostensibly progressive people on here, who experience marginalization along one axis, will still reject any assertion that they have certain privileges - "I can't experience white privilege fully because I'm autistic" - there's a word for what you experience alongside white privilege, and it's called ableism. these two things very much coexist, because you are not also experiencing racism's intersection WITH the ableism you face. "I haven't used my male privilege against anyone, I don't oppress the women around me" - I never said you did, now if you and a woman both worked the same job, who is your employer (who wields the power in this situation) likely to pay more?

like, people are still caught up in the very real struggles they're facing to no fault of their own, but they continue to interpret "you have X privilege" with "your life is easy / you don't suffer from other issues / you're the one making life harder for people without that privilege." and it would be great if we could just get back to the basics of intersectionality here and stop operating on false assumptions!!

White privilege is when the cops hold more value in your actions and words than a POC person, even if you're disabled, neurodivergent, poor, LGBT+, and suffering from abuse or a harsh life. They'll believe you more despite all that, because you're White.

White privilege is getting chosen for a job over a POC person despite having the exact same competences or even less, even if you're disabled, neurodivergent, poor, LGBT+, and suffering from abuse or a harsh life. They'll pick you despite all that, because you're White.

White privilege is when in a protest for POC people's lives and rights, the journalist makes a beeline for you to comment on it, even if you're disabled, neurodivergent, poor, LGBT+, and suffering from abuse or a harsh life. They'll ask you despite all that, because you're White.

White privilege is when renting for an appartment, the landowner picks you over the POC person, even if you're disabled, neurodivergent, poor, LGBT+, and suffering from abuse or a harsh life. They'll rent you despite all that, because you're White.

The list can go on and on.

It's not your fault. You're certainly not using the fact that you have that skin color against others. You might not even want to. But the system is fucking shitty, and there are people who perpetrate it. They will use your White privileges to do that.

Hell, you can even face racism for your own origins (I'm half-German half-French, I can give you a plethora of things that happened to me on both sides because I'm a "Nazi/Froggy-spikehead halfie foulblooded bastard"), and still get White privileges.

I have, for a while now, believed that a big part of the problem is the choice of the word privilege to describe this. Privilege is a word that has a strong connotation as something beneficial you get or get to do, but the compelling examples for various forms of privilege involve a lack of oppression. So you're saying to them that they have this privilege but it's just a weight they haven't been forced to bear. Getting someone to change the way they view the world is hard enough, and I think the fact that we call it privilege gives us another roadblock to overcome, because it puts them on the defensive, especially in people who have struggled for other reasons.

Like, I don't think privilege is an inaccurate term to use, and there definitely are tangible benefits in addition to the more intangible lack of oppression, but I think the connotation of the word privilege does a lot to make it harder to convince people it applies to them. It took a while for me to really get past the kneejerk reaction, and I already knew and believed in the underlying concepts. But when I was told I had x privilege I was pissed because it felt like I was being lumped in with people who have no problems.
