"no I think luck only works once per roll" oh like you would know how luck works SAMUEL

he knows how it works he just doesn't like using it! (and also bc liam was the first person to play a character with luck so he was legally obligated to make fun of him the whole time) ('i get three of them a day! not per game per day! if we go to sleep i get them back!' 'good old four-luck o'brien') (is a cornerstone of this show) cr spoilers cr4 c4e11

There were a couple of times this episode where Brennan started leaning into the fact that SPECIES and CULTURE are different and should be viewed as different things.

He made a point to mention that names and histories and languages were Kahadi or Obradimian or Sylvan instead of Orcish or Human or Fae. He distinguished between orthographies and languages. He even gave Julien and Thaisha different answers about the relationships between the gods and the titans/primordials based on the history that they had learned — the god as replacing a primordial for Thaisha, but the god marrying a titan for Julien.

Very solid work.

like yeah he's used dwarvish and gnomish already but there's no gnomes in the soldiers or dwarves in the seekers so it would be cool if those turned out to not be unified language either and instead assumed to be the same by people unfamiliar to them sylvan has been the dnd name for the fey language the whole time - but he did also do something with that that caught my attention! bc in the forgotten realms (and most other dnd campaign settings just for ease of lore) elvish is descended from sylvan like elves are descended from fey the languages use the same alphabet and have some amount of cognates but we know from vaelus not speaking sylvan and julien (who does) being able to just about parse druidic sylvan and druidic in this setting share an alphabet and some cognates - that elvish doesn't so elves (who viewed sylandri as their mother so much more than the other races) are probably not descended from fey here! and it also gives more weight to the druids having been around before the gods because at some point they shared language with the fey cr spoilers cr4

Cyd being a paladin gives Casimir complaining that Cyd almost slit his throat new and hilarious context. Cyd Pridesire comes at you, a cutthroat thief and smuggler with the Crow Keepers. there is no way you're expecting a fucking Divine Smite on that. I'd be pissed as hell about it too, like, bro, what the fuck, why did I take extra radiant damage from a wagon driver.
