AN IMPORTANT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ANY NEWCOMERS TO THE EDDSWORLD FANDOM

It has come to the attention of I and many others that there has been some disrespect going on between Tumblr users who like to draw ship art of the Eddsworld characters and those who do not like to see certain ships. I will not name names or point fingers, but this needs to be addressed. Making art of these ships is absolutely okay to do as long as it is not problematic! We want Tumblr to be a safe place for those who use it as their outlet for art.

To any newcomers entering the Eddsworld fandom: most of us Eddhead veterans are in our late teens or early twenties so most of us are adults. WE'VE BEEN THROUGH THE WRINGER AND WE KNOW THE DRILL:

  • The fictional characters are not the real people, so yes, it is okay to ship the fictional characters. We know the difference between the fictional characters and the real people.
  • DO NOT bash those who ship certain characters together. DO NOT comment on a post of ship art you don't like just to tell the artist you don't like it. They spent a lot of time making that and it is very disrespectful to the artist. They have every right to take offense to your comment. Even if you were to say "Nice art but I don't ship it" is still considered disrespectful.

If you see something you don't like either scroll past it, filter out the tags, or block the person. It's really that simple! You do not have to interact with the art or the artist.

Also, T.H.I.N.K. before you speak, please! What has been said many times before needs to be said again.

T.H.I.N.K. is an acronym that stands for:

Is it True?

Is it Helpful?

Is it Inspiring?

Is it Necessary?

Is it Kind?

If what you want to say is none of these, then please reconsider saying it.

“Welcome Back” - Eddsworld Comic by @ryemackerel

[March 10, 2017] Tord’s 1st year since he returned back home. :-)

So much has happened since he came back, and as daunting as it feels for him, especially after his almost decade-long departure to the army, he feels loved knowing the others were always there to welcome him back into their arms.

[For some context]

Tord left for the army in 2008. The others were convinced he wouldn’t return. During that period, Tord and Edd constantly kept in contact by sending letters to each other, and even Tom and Matt would chime in. However, it never felt the same without Tord in the group. That was until 8 years later…

March 2016: Tord would send a letter to the other three about him coming back. Before then and soon after the army, Tord would live with his friends (and self-proclaimed adoptive dads) Paul and Patryck. When Tord was ready to see the other three, Paul and Pat helped Tord reunite with them and eventually move back in with them. The rest is history. :-]

Since then, he’s learned to love and feel loved. He’s grown more comfortable being himself around the others from being in a poly with the other three. Ever since his return, worried he’d feel left out from all the lost time they hadn’t spent together, and felt he was undeserving of their love. Little did he realize how the other three have always loved and embraced Tord.

HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOYED THE COMIC!! I didn’t fully color it because the flashback panel took AGES to complete, but I’m so happy it’s finally done. :-)

Tord’s return anniversary date is based off the day I published my first Eddsworld fanart in ages, and got back in the fandom in March 2024. AND! A lot of his development and scenarios with the others are also based on my old artwork and roleplays with my partner :-]

1 year of growth since I got back into Eddsworld is insane, and I’m forever grateful for the folks that made that past year awesome man :-]
