maybe if you take a hot shower. cook something. eat a little soup. feel a little sunshine. make something with your hands—it doesn’t have to be big. maybe if you stretch your body and draw a silly little picture and get some rest, the world will feel like something your hands can still hold

Vibe checking. Nepal

I was curious about a source on this because OP has it tagged as “india,” while the two comments above affirm it as Nepal.

Interestingly, reverse image search brought up this photo, which appears to be a capture of the exact same moment, just from a different angle:

Nepalese farmers throw mud at each other in a paddy field in Tau-Daha village on the outskirts of Kathmandu on June 29, 2010. The farmers are celebrating National Paddy Day on ‘Asar 15’ of the Nepali calendar as the annual rice planting season begins. AFP PHOTO/Prakash MATHEMA

Two more photos of continued vibe checking, also from Prakash Mathema [1] [2]

I have GOT to listen to more flipturn bc everything I hear of theirs I like... do you have any recs for a good starting point?

*awakening from my four-month hibernation like a sleeper agent* YES I CAN GIVE FLIPTURN RECS

their most popular song: august (normal version) HOWEVER. august (acoustic) is objectively the superior version because it has a) a string quartet and b) dillon basse's voice killing me softly because he's such a fucking good singer it makes me want to give up AAAAA he sounds so good

my favorite song of theirs: surprisingly not august despite my username! sad disco is actually my favorite bc it got me through some Shit. also it's a banger and totally underappreciated imo

best song off of their first album (shadowglow): i think i'd probably go with the fall (after sad disco ofc). it's just gorgeous i think

best song off of their most recent album (burnout days): well. i'm not allowed to say all of them. but the answer is all of them. (fun fact: four out of my top five songs according to spotify wrapped were from burnout days. all 12 songs were within the top 25 most played. no i don't have a problem what do you mean?) anyways i think my favorite song is probably swim between trees but the best song is either juno or rodeo clown. special mention to window though!

nichest banger: burn was one of the first songs from shadowglow i listened to and it's lowkey criminal that it has so few listens. runners-up for this category include eleanor, poppies, and their cover of everybody wants to rule the world

miscellaneous recs: if it is, tides, hippies :)) all very chill stoner rock type songs

thank you for coming to my (heavily trimmed down and months late) ted talk on my beloved indie rock band flipturn <3

I haaave to add on to this because i'm insane about flipturn and these are very good reccs. Especially the Burn mention? yes correct. In Consideration is another track off of shadowglow that i think not nearly enough people talk about and it's just incredible.

personal top reccs:

- glistening

- the fall

- if it is

- brooklyn baby

- sunlight

special mention to 'churches' as well for a taste of their earlier stuff, i still have that one in my regular listening

my corner store guy is a 50 year old man who's my best friend in the world and recently he was like "you're too pretty to be single I have some nephews you should meet. very handsome!" and I was like "a niece might be more up my alley" and he just got more excited and said "ah even better! I was overselling my nephews but my nieces are very beautiful"

OP the tags!!

does anyone have that one drawing of a greyhound from like the 1920s or whatever please please please i need it the one where it looks like a single piece of forlorn wire i need it
