Okay, so it looks like OpenAI (the company/organization/etc behind ChatGPT) is currently slated to gobble up ~40% of the raw, undiced global DDR/RAM/memory supply until ~2029 (!) if the deals they've made with manufacturers are any indicator.

So fuck it, while I *would* prefer DDR5 RAM with tighter timings, I think it's safe to say that
1) beggars can't be choosers
2) git while the gitting is still good. 💀

Update 2—So it appears the specific bundle with that exact DDR5 set has gone up in price by around $50; and if I want the original price of bundle of $680, I'd have to settle for RAM with even worse timings.

Welp, looks like I will likely be going with my original plan of waiting until Zen 9's Ryzen 7 9800X3D or 9850X3D equivalent. Set to come out around 2030-ish; after OpenAI's deal with RAM manufacturers expires and, hopefully, after this AI bubble has long popped, much to the delight of a grateful planet. 💀😵
It would mean going from DDR4 RAM to DDR6 RAM; and about 6 generations of Ryzen CPUs (Zen 3 to Zen 9).

Oh well. Another textbook/classic example, of, it just is what it is.
