Welcome to the /ch/open Workshop about Puppet. Hope you’ll enjoy this day joining us and learn a lot of new and useful stuff.
We will be running the workshop on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and recommend you to do the same. For your convenience, we have prepared a preconfigured VM image for VM Ware (configured with 2GB of RAM and 2 cores assigend). Login with user chopen/chopen
If you prefer using your own VM image, please follow the steps listed below:
-
We have prepared a public Git repository found at GitHub. You find a setup.sh script in there. Execute it to get Puppet and some related tools installed.
-
We recommend using Sublime as text editor (in general a paid editor, but it features a generous trial period) which is available for all major platforms. You can install it as described under this page:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/sublime-text-3
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sublime-text-installer
-
Also configure Sublime with the Puppet package. Run the package installer and then use the description here to install the Puppet package.
Caution
|
By default, Ubuntu uses an US keyboard layout. Be aware of that when choosing your VM password. |
If you have problems running the setup or plan to use anything else than the setup described above, please give us a ping.
CU soon!
