FreeImage is a library project for developers who would like to support popular graphics image formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP and others). Some highlights are: extremely simple in use, not limited to the local PC (unique FreeImageIO) and Plugin driven!

DXF2GCODE is a tool for converting 2D (dxf, pdf, ps) drawings to CNC machine compatible GCode. Windows, Linux, and Mac support by using python scripting language.

K-3D is the free (as in freedom) 3d modeling, animation, and rendering system.

Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like syntax. Asymptote provides for figures the same high-quality typesetting that LaTeX does for scientific text.

Matplotlib is a python library for making publication quality plots using a syntax familiar to MATLAB users. Matplotlib uses numpy for numerics. Output formats include PDF, Postscript, SVG, and PNG, as well as screen display. As of matplotlib version 1.5, we are no longer making file releases available on SourceForge. UPDATE: Chromium is no longer updated or maintained. The project is frozen. Chromium is a flexible framework for scalable real-time rendering on clusters of workstations, derived from the Stanford WireGL project code base.

MayaVi is a free, cross platform, easy to use scientific data visualizer. It provides a GUI to ease the visualization process, is written in Python and uses the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) for the graphics.

GEOMS2 is a geostatistics and geosciences modeling software. Provides interface for grid (mesh), point, surface and data (non-spatial) objects. It has a 3D viewer and 2D plots using the well known Python engines Mayavi and Matplotlib. It has several functions to manipulate your data as well as provide univariate and multivariate analysis. The OpenCMISS-Zinc Library (opencmiss.org/zinc), or Zinc, is a software library for building interactive graphical modelling and visualisation applications. Models are represented in Zinc as mathematical fields defined over domains, including finite elements with support for high-order basis functions, complex parameter mappings and time variation, and image-based fields. Further fields can be defined by mathematical expressions and algorithms on existing fields, including image processing filters. Zinc model data structures are dynamic, supporting interactive applications which programmatically create, destroy and modify parts of models.

The Simple Medical Imaging Library Interface (SMILI), pronounced 'smilie', is an open-source, light-weight and easy-to-use medical imaging viewer and library for all major operating systems. The main sMILX application features for viewing n-D images, vector images, DICOMs, anonymizing, shape analysis and models/surfaces with easy drag and drop functions. It also features a number of standard processing algorithms for smoothing, thresholding, masking etc. images and models, both with graphical user interfaces and/or via the command-line. The applications are all built out of a uniform user-interface framework that provides a very high level (Qt) interface to powerful image processing and scientific visualisation algorithms from the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and Visualisation Toolkit (VTK). g2 is an easy to use, portable and powerful 2D graphics library. It provides a comprehensive set of functions for simultaneous generation of graphical output on different types of devices.

Free 3D Acropolis is a model 3D in hight resolution of the Acropolis of Athens shortly after its construction.

InkPlot is an extension (plugin) for the SVG Editor Inkscape to insert graphs from Gnuplot. It allows you to - preview the graph - add it as SVG into Inkscape - edit already generated graphs - use a preamble file for reusable style and commands - customize default settings in a config file

DiaCanvas is a library for drawing diagrams. It is completely Model/View/Controller based and has a Visio (DIA) look. The package also contains a Python wrapper for the library.

QuickDicom is an easy to use dicom medical imaging package for Mac OSX, providing QuickLook, Spotlight, Quartz Composer, Window/Level and a dicom file analyzer. Also included is the iiDicom Framework for image/dictionary usage in Objective C and Python.

VR Juggler is a virtual platform for virtual reality application development created at the Virtual Reality Applications Center at Iowa State University. Applications developed in VR Juggler can transparently move between a wide range of VR systems.

BLIX is a cross-platform set of Python extension modules and Python scripts for Blender (www.blender.org). These scripts add camera calibration, 3D reconstruction and rigid body orientation to Blender.
