GCompris is a high quality educational software suite comprising of numerous activities for children aged 2 to 10. Some of the activities are game oriented, but nonetheless still educational.

The AbiWord word processor is a full-featured cross-platform word processor.

emesene is a platform independent instant messaging client for the Windows Live Messenger (tm) network. emesene is distributed free of charge under the GNU General Public License 2 or any later version.

Pythońol is an all-in-one program to help English speakers learn Spanish. Features include: Pronunciation, verb conjugation, dictionary (70,000+ words), thesaurus, quizzes, full-text translation, idioms, a verb browser, and a large reference section.

Full documentation: Download delayterX.Y.html User has files that can probably be deleted later but does not feel comfortable deleting right now. Instruct with simple commands in which the file names and delay time are specified, eg.: Delayter -m 1 -w 2 -d 3 file1 file2 by which file1 and file2 are scheduled for deletion 1 month, 2 weeks and 3 days from now (roughly 47 days). Useful on projects with many temporary junk files that cannot be deleted until a later time at which you might not remember whether they are important or not. There are safeguards to protect against accidental deletion. Scheduled deletions can be viewed and also retracted. Files will not be deleted if they have been modified since scheduled for deletion. A Python/Tk gui for find and grep. FindEmAll is, compared with other similar file search tools, fast and resource-efficient and independent from any desktop environment (no Gnome or KDE libraries required).

GryPhon is a Linux GTK CD-Player focusing on configurability, features and looks. It is a full-featured CD-Player, with CDDB-loading/editing/saving and is written PURELY in Python. GryPhon also features a full-featured CD audio library called CDLow.

PyDate is a very simple Python/Tk based tool to adjust the system date and time conveniently from an easy to use graphical interface. It is primarily intended to be used with minimal desktop environments like IceWm which don't provide such tools themselves. KDE or Gnome libraries are not required to run PyDate.

Webcamgrab randomly pulls a JPG image from a user maintained list of webcams and saves it to a specific file and location. Since the file name and location do not change, it can be selected for wallpaper. Written in Python 2.6, For Linux only, You will need to install or have installed Python and lynx (your Linux distro should offer them), I am using webcamgrab in Gnome 2. It should work with any GUI which lets you select a JPG for wallpaper, Can be launched once at start up or manually if desired. For true elegance can be launched using cron or Evolution's calendar or other timed launcher however often you like (I use Evolution's calendar and it works fine), webcamgrab is not interactive - once configured you can leave it alone. Assumed path names are /usr/bin for lynx and ~/Public for webcamgrab's files. If you would change these paths just modify the Python code in webcamgrab.py with the text editor of your choice. pyRssReader is on open source and free program. pyRssReader is used to read the rss feeds from the websites. At this moment pyRssReader supports the follow feed types: RSS 0.90, Netscape RSS 0.91, Atom 0.3, Atom 1.0, CDF feeds and more types.

ALFI FACE uses facial recognition technology to record the attendance through a digital camera that detects and recognizes faces and compare the faces with students’ faces images stored in faces database. Once the recognized face matches a stored image, attendance is marked in attendance database for that person. Note: While adding a new student you have to click on" Train the Recognizer" button . In excel sheet dates are "#" so that no one can change the dates.
