BASE is the Basic Analysis and Security Engine. It is based on the code from the Analysis Console for Intrusion Databases (ACID) project. This application provides a web front-end to query and analyze the alerts coming from a SNORT IDS system.

Flexible web-based firewall log analyzer, supporting netfilter and ipfilter, ipfw, ipchains, cisco routers and Windows XP system logs, and mysql or postgresql database logs using the iptables ULOG or NFLOG target of netfilter others mapped to the ulogd format with a view. Fully supports IPv6 for database logs, and netfilter and ipfilter system file logs. Also supports Maxmind's GeoIP version 2 location databases. For Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, Solaris, OSX,etc.

Fail2Ban monitors log files like /var/log/pwdfail or /var/log/apache/error_log and bans failure-prone addresses. It updates firewall rules to reject the IP address or executes user defined commands. 360-FAAR (Firewall Analysis Audit and Repair) is an offline, command line, firewall policy manipulation tool to filter, compare to logs, merge, translate and output firewall commands for new policies, in Checkpoint dbedit, Cisco ASA or ScreenOS commands, and its one file! Read Policy and Logs for: Checkpoint FW1 (in odumper.csv / logexport format), Netscreen ScreenOS (in get config / syslog format), Cisco ASA (show run / syslog format), 360-FAAR compares firewall policies and uses CIDR and text filters to split rulebases / policies into target sections and identify connectivity for further analysis. 360-FAAR supports, policy to log association, object translation, rulebase reordering and simplification, rule moves and duplicate matching automatically. Allowing you to move rules to where you need them. Build new rulebases from scratch with a single 'any' rule and log files, with the 'res' and 'name' options. Switch into DROPS mode to analyse drop log entries.

FWReport is a log parser and reporting tool for IPTables. It generates daily and monthy summaries of the log files, allowing the admin to free up substantial time, maintain better control over security of the network, and reduce unnoticed attacks.

IPFWstats is a suite of shell, perl and PHP scripts to count network traffic on a per user basis on a server using the FreeBSD IPFW firewall. Statistics are imported into a MySQL database daily and can then be viewed using a PHP script in a web browser

This very simple perl script parses you iptables log files and produces a report in text format with a summary based on the prefix of the log ( --log-prefix option of iptables ). Prefix description is allowed.

This Daemon written in Perl, logs FreeBSD ipfw ip accounting counters every X seconds/minutes, so after rebooting, crashing, flushing, zero out your ipfirewall table, you don't loose any mayor traffic information.

The p2p_grab script will make a log which is useful to generate an IP list. This list is inserted in cbq to shape the bandwidth for the users that use P2P programs. Also the IP list can be inserted in an iptables firewall script...

The Plague provides a web UI to a MySQL db of parsed syslog data. The focus has been security reporting. The logs supported (so far) are NetScreen firewalls, Cisco routers and switches and PIXen, Gauntlet firewalls.

nf_quota is an ip-based traffic accounting project. IPs can be added to users. It provides a kernel module that hooks onto netfilter and counts every packet passing a specified interface. If the quota for a ip/user is exceeded, the packet is dropped.

PFL can either operate as a stand-alone firewall log parser or set up to run and configure ipfw. The major focus is parsing, compressing, and filtering *NIX (to include Mac OSX) firewall logs generated by IPFW for quick and easy admin review.

a logging system for openbsd's pf. uses postgresql for storage, and is designed to cope with an unreliable network connection to the database.
