Network: Host-Only - Named vs General Mixup
Thanks Viktor. I'll take a proper look soon as I see that Virtual Box 7.2 is in beta which means I will probably need to make some API updates to support that version so I'll probably include any fixes in that release.

Ubuntus packages do not include the service files so really a bug report should be opened with them. Please use the Ubuntu packages from the VirtualBox downloads page as they have everything needed. I've added some additional notes to the documentation.

Option to mute VBox/VNC Ext Pack message on every connection
I have added this as preference option in the next release of RemoteBox (3.6). It defaults to off, but in the remotebox preferences you can request it is surpressed. Be aware however that the warning exists because several features rely on the extension pack to work correctly.

Awesome Viktor. Thank you for reporting the issue
Hi Ian, thanks for the note on the attachments it was needed :) thanks for the fix as well I've tested it and it works great for my setup I could not find any issues with it, so from my perspective this bug is fixed. Thank you very much for the project and for the quick reaction! BR, Viktor
Also, if it's not obvious the attachment appears just above the discussion section in this ticket.

Finally had a few moments to look at this. I've attached what I think is a fixed version. This is a regression caused by the migration from glade to native code. Let me know if it works for you Victor and if so I'll include it in the next official release.
of course would love to :)
Thanks Victor. When I get a chance I will do a fix and post it here for you to test if that's OK? Thanks
Hi, sure: Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS Release: 22.04 Codename: jammy "username and password are not being saved" yes and changes to the hostname and port are not being saved as well. "If so I have been able to reproduce that." Oh that sounds great. thanks

Ok, I think I understand the issue. It's not that the profiles are not saving entirely, it's that the username and password are not being saved, is that correct? If so I have been able to reproduce that.
Thank you Victor. Would you mind telling me what OS and version you're using? I'll see if I can reproduce the issue

Just for future reference, the official packages from the VirtualBox website usually contain the webservice systemd script within it. Thanks for posting the update.
I found the problem, the virtual box web service is a seperate RPM. With Alma and the RPM Fusion repo it's installed like so: dnf install VirtualBox-webservice

I've installed VirtualBox 7.1 (from RPM Fusion) and the extension pack on Alma Linux 9.5. VirtualBox works as expected. I now want to access it remotely, using RemoteBox. I've followed the instructions, but there appears to be no systemd vboxweb-service on the host. Any idea why?

Update port to brew ?
At this point in time, brew does not have all the dependencies that are required for RemoteBox to run, in particular it lacks most of the perl modules, so I'm closing as "won't" until that changes.
That's great Michael and you're very welcome.
Hey Guys, Thank you for this awesome little app. I am here to tell this both works on Intel/AMD & a Raspberry Pi 5 That has Raspberry Pi OS Latest version (Debian Bookworm). I have attached a pic of the app working. Thank you guys very much. nexusguy59/Michael
There's no reason why RemoteBox shouldn't just work already 'as-is' on a Raspberry Pi, as long as you have the require dependencies installed. RemoteBox is not 'compiled' (in the traditional sense) for a processor architecture so should generally 'just-work' anywhere that has the required perl and perl modules. If you couldn't get 3.4 to work, feel free to post the errors here.
Hello Guys, This is my first real usage of RemoteBox I have v3.1, right now via Windows Machine with Ubuntu on my WSLv2. I couldn't get v3.4 to work it a ton of errors. My question is are there any plans to get RemoteBox use full on a Raspberry Pi 5. The reason I ask is because a clot of folks are starting to use ARM as their permenant desktops. Thank you for your time, Michael
Any update on the instructions? Thanks

Bugs reported anonymously rarely get fixed as I follows don't occur. Try opening the guest settings, disable the RDP and save the settings Then go back in, open the guest settings again and enable RDP again Secondly, have you updated your RDP settings to ignore certificates?

Unfortunately when 'bugs' are posted anonymously they usually go unresolved as there's no follow up. Saving profiles works for me, what is the output of the following: strace -f -s 1024 remotebox 2>&1 | grep -i remotebox.conf -B 20 -A 20

Indeed, you are correct.
Remotebox segfaults on Gnome 44.1
RemoteBox is written in Perl. If it segfaults, then I'm 99.999% certain it's an issue with one of the dependencies it relies on, especially on a distro like ArchLinux.

The installation instructions are based on the packages directly from Oracle, so if there's an issue with Ubuntu's own VirtualBox install then that is out of scope for the installation instructions and they should indeed fix their packages. Please let me know if that is the case. A package could be made for apt and Ubuntu, but I do not have the resources to maintain packages for specific operating systems. Please clarify whether the amendment is needed due to Ubuntu's own VirtualBox package? Tha...

Update port to brew ?
It's something I'm willing to consider, depending on the work involved in maintaining it, but in general I'm struggling to find time to keep RemoteBox running with the latest version of Virtualbox so maintaining specific packages for operating systems is tricky.
