Furries and... NAMES

Dear reader. please take one step back away from your computer screen and ponder... is there anything wrong with your human name?
Online I understand the whole fursona thing. I understand the image, the name and the anonymity. What I don't understand is when i venture to meet fur in the real world and none offer their human name. However on the acquisition of the secret human name they insist I only call them Kalandar the unquenchable (example)... and I don't get why for often they can be defensive, angry or even offended by their human name online or in person
The saddest point is when I went to meet a dear friend of mine... for the sake of argument I shall call him 'L'... L is very normal looking, normal acting and yet insists on being called his (slightly ridiculous) fur name, at some point deep in a dinner conversation his mother interrupted me to inquire as to (slightly ridiculous)'s name and although I was quick to come to a cover I came to a sad realization... in the whole time I'd known him. I'd used his human name perhaps twice. little enough that I had to sit back on my fat haunches and actually think of his name for a few moments
Anyways... I'm not sure where I'm going with this... DISCUSS
p.s. i know more than 30 furs and only five let me call them their actual names without fuss or tanty... maybe 1/4 of them i dont even know their actual name

Freakiest moment of my life came during a conference call with some VP at Apple (yes, the computer company). He asked my opinion on the situation, and used my furry name to do so.
Freaked me out.
But that is the kind of company Apple is. I miss working with them.
also sorry but i have to say it... :o you miss apple because they bring up personal information in the middle of a professional meeting? :O :P
I have other reasons.
most people don't even know my fur name and those that do still call me Ash :P I go to Australia they call me Ash. I go to germany... they call me Ash :P
That makes using their names for myself that much easier. Power Word Real Name me arse.
Uhm, but I'm not terribly insistent about it, either way, I suppose...

but anyway most people know me by both sonas but i get called by my second sonas name alot, only a few furs know my irl name
