Can't go home.

Well I haven't written one of these in like forever but something has happened that I think justifies one. I live in Louisiana and last week we had record rain fall. It rained for 2 days and now the lake I live on has risen so much that I can no longer go home. We evacuated Thursday night and the water was starting to come up over the roads and today those same roads are under 10 feet of water.
I'm thankful that my home is on a high hill and very unlikely to get flooded but there are some that are not so lucky. Many of my neighbors homes are completely underwater. The roads are completely submerged and based on early estimates for for the water to recede it looks like it will be around a month before I can even get back to my home. I've been so distraught over this and am worried about so much stuff right now. I'm homesick and I so desperately hope that the estimates are wrong and the water recedes quicker than they say.
The highest this lake ever got was on July 10 1989. This time it's expected to be 6 feet higher than that.

*hugs* Sorry to hear that Zoe. I hope they are wrong about the estimates and that you can get back home soon. I can't even imagine.

Thanks bunches. Even though it stopped raining a couple days ago the lake is still rising. It isn't expected to crest until tomorrow. Then it'll start to fall at an excruciatingly slow pace.

you live in louisiana then, i take it. I hate that the storm has caused so much grief for you, but at least you're safe! That's all that really matters at the end of the day.
