A mobile application to create accelerometer based activity recognition models directly on the phone. The configuration of the segmentation and feature extraction process chain requires expert knownledge. The prototype was developed in 2012 in a bachelor thesis at the University of Kassel and was optimized and enhanced for an experiment in 2015.

The intention of this project is to give all serious users of the SNNS a place where they find a bugfix and patch management and where they get useful information about the SNNS.

Some of the usual problems for Learning vector quantization (LVQ) based methods are that one cannot optimally guess about the number of prototypes required for initialization for multimodal data structures i.e.these algorithms are very sensitive to initialization of prototypes and one has to pre define the optimal number of prototypes before running the algorithm. If a prototype, for some reasons, is ‘outside’ the cluster which it should represent and if there are points of a different categories in between, then the other points act as a barrier and the prototype will not find its optimum position during training. Since the model complexity is not known in many cases, we avoid this problem by introducing a "Dynamic" version of LVQ. Dynamic-GRLVQ (DGRLVQ), which adapts the model complexity to the given problem during training by adding or removing prototypes dynamically/realtime one by one for each category until satisfactory classification results are achieved.

Artificial Intelligence Research & Development Project

A vocabulary tree for image classification have been designed to be integrated in mobile robotic applications. It is a learning schema based on decission trees, bags of features and inverted files. The design provides training and optimization parameters that have been characterized using several detectors and descriptors for several input datasets. Evaluation tests performed on public image databases allow to compare obtained results with previously published literature. All the tools and resources used in this project are Open Source licensed.

This project consists out of a windows based designer application and a library (that can run on multiple platforms, including android) together with several demo applications (including an MVC3 chatbot client and an android application). It is probably best compared to a database management system, but for neural networks instead of relational data. As such, the library is optimized for handling any type of data-size by using advanced streaming and caching algorithms. With the designer, you are able to create different types of decision trees, random forests, n-grams, pattern-matchers, conversational agents and all sorts of AI related algorithms.
