Classic Shell makes Windows 8 tolerable.

EN: Absolutely needed tool if you organize your programs in Start Menu by thematic sub-folders (which is natural for any really sentient being). The best Start Menu that I know - I couldn't bear Win7 if not this miracle. Health and happiness to you guys! Awesome to make classic menu for win 7

The ClassicShell start menu lets you create a start menu that works the way you want, with exactly the items you want. You can eliminate the dead wood, and you can get back the functionality that Microsoft destroyed. Every Windows 8 system should have it.

The program is very helpful for those who have updated the operating system with windows XP to Windows 7

Classic Shell is the first tool you should install on a new Windows 8 machine. It makes Windows 8 usable. The source forge project Description unfortunably misses to mention that Classic Shell is most useful für Windows 8.

This program is fantastic! It almost makes Windows 8 livable! I recommend this program to eveyone, but one or two W8 diehards tell me it is crap, DON'T BELIEVE IT! I can add this to my motion 3D wallpaper and my Keyboard LEDs. I feel like I'm back home.

After download windows alarm “This program not normally downloaded” Version ClassicShellSetup_3_6_6.exe Tried to install and alarm said “This program may harm your computer” Had to select "More Information" to install Classic shell?? Window generated the alarm not my antivirus, I am using “Panda” as my antivirus. Just thought I would let you know.

First I want to say, it's a shame Microsoft forcing Windows 8 users to install such a tool. Who really wants to work on a Desktop-PC with that catastrophic Metro-Thingy? Not to mention how ugly it looks like, it's impossible to manage/launch hundreds or thousands of programs in a rational and logical way using tiles only. So I tested many different Startmenu-Tools with Windows 8, in fact every I have found on the internet - free and paid. And there's no doubt that Classic Shell is my personal winner!!! (the only real competitor *imho* was Stardock Start8 which isn't free but only 5$)

I would definitely recommend this software if you are used to Windows XP and the like. Made navigating Windows 8 a breeze.

beautiful start menu

It does what it is supposed to do. However, I for one would like the option for the menu to act more like Windows 7 menu does. Windows 8 makes this app extremely necessary, and I think many people who liked the way Windows 7 menu worked would find the additional option useful. This would make this app a viable alternative to the closed source start8 by stardock.

I could not get used to the Windows 7 start interface. All the configuration in the world could not keep the Windows 7 start interface from being awkward, clumsy and ill suited for the task. Classic shell has allowed me to configure the machine to my liking not to the liking of Microsoft.

Good app. Useful, simple and easy to install.
