I still think one of the most Peak Miyazaki Characters™ is O’rin of the Water
She appears in one spot, is related to someone else’s extremely doomed and cursed quest, has three lines of dialogue, and then she starts kicking your ass harder than the fist of an angry god with a moveset exclusive to her. Then you simply move on with your life.
Also, her inability to see in no way hinders her ability to fuck you up
Have y'all never worn a basket hat? You can see through them. Unless she’s actually blind. I don’t play this.
Eh, the eyes on her model are that dull grey color that usually means “blind” in fiction

According to theories and this Apparitions of Ashina video by Smoughtown (starting at 8:25), O’rin’s design is based on the Komusu women monks and the baskets they would wear in their zen Buddhist devotions. But the garb and basket could easily allow someone to go incognito (like an assassin?) and perhaps that’s why O’rin suddenly unsheathes a hidden blade. The video has lots of additional reading links that are great if people are interested!

There’s also a Japanese myth of Yurei of the Blind Musician, which Miyazaki probably used as a base for O’rin’s story. And it might explain her grey eyes in her design/model.
