In your Test Tube Vi AU, is Vi an Africanized Honey Bee?

Just like the beekeepers who created the first African/European Honeybee hybrids; H.B. was trying to create bees who were more tolerant of Bugaria’s warm climate, and more resistant to various diseases. Vi was made in a laboratory because Queen Bianca had already mated, and didn’t want to add experimental genetics to the general worker population until it was proven safe.

Her caution was warranted: just like our world’s Africanized Honey Bees; Vi ended up being stronger than her pure European Honeybee sisters, but also more aggressive and flighty.

I most certainly did not think about actual bee species when making test tube vi. however i like this idea lol

the implication here being that some dude from a far off hive comes around flirting or w/e and HB is like hey. can i use your genome for unethical science and he said yes.

hb was actually trying to make stronger bee soldiers- which seem to be separate from their normal/working bees? she technically succeeded! alas- apparently its unethical to proceed hb: how come humans can make hybridized bees and its fine but when i do it its “unethical” and “shows a disregard for the sanctity of life” test tube vi au bf bug fables hello everyone i bet you thought you had seen the last of me... but IM STILL HERE >:3c ask chit chat

It's a little lazy but I've been more fixated on bug fables again and, per usual, H.B. is (and don't tell her I said this) my favorite character. I improved with my art, especially anatomy wise, so I decided to put my 2024 spin on this :]

I think i made Vi into some kind honey monster thing once, iirc the idea was that she had fallen into the factory core and been imbued with honey and magic from the ancient key

Kabbu can just be some kind of revenant/ghost. like say he died first or something, perhaps he sacrificed himself, but the beast still killed and ate his teammates. he’d come back to haunt/hunt the beast and avenge his friends (and also his own death)

ask bf anon would also make his quest for vengeance in the swamp chapter more visceral. that thing killed him once and he'll die again before he lets it take someone else ooooough the drama bug fables spoilers

He’s a modern bug! He was raised by his grandparents which is why he talks like he’s a hundred million years old.

He’s married to muse and is a researcher! He studies languages and knows quite a few! He actually knows quite a bit of roach, while not fluent, he is the foremost expert in bugaria.

When Kabbu and Vi go to snakemouth den, instead of getting trapped, they get chased out by the spider. Kabbu knows Leif, and that he’s interested in roach stuff and mentioned what they discovered.

Leif of course, like any sane person with a special interest, immediately demands that he come on their next incredibly dangerous excursion.

Which of course, is how he gets venomed lol.

And yeah, he’s red btw. If i made him blue then I’d have to make all of team snakemouth blue.

Muse: i thought u hated kina??? and also we can't ask Suze (muse and muze r twins now cause i said so) and Hawk to babysit for that long Leif then has to explain no he does not want to accompany his wife and her explorer partner on their next mission He wants to go with his buddy Kabbu and his partner Vi into the scary cave that kills people cause there is WORDS there Leif gets to go IF he promises not pick any fights and also if Kina is cool with Muse taking a break for a bit. Leif didn't pick any fights (he let kabbu and vi pick them and then gleefully participated) Muse didn't think to tell him not to touch anything weird He is so careful and delicate with all the artifacts he researches muse after this mission: Leif i love you but PLEASE do not touch any mystery creatures to “see what happens” ever again Leif: what if they try to kill me. muse: then i want you to come back alive or i'll kill you myself.
