2. You ever see a movie, and the characters are all fine and the movie fun, but then a sequel comes out where the Whump gods smile down on one character in particular, and suddenly you become much more "👀 um, okay, I'm listening" about said character?
3. (Light no context spoilers of whump categories): Because holy shit, they put Spider through the wringer in this latest offering. Multiple asphyxiation scenes, fainting, kidnapping, sooo much manhandling, hair pulling, holding/tying down, an entire medical torture/experimentation *montage*, neglect and betrayal, psychic bond torture, a few different, likely traumatizing near death experiences (beyond just "that knife came close to my face"), including one incredibly emotionally charged near death scene. And as a bonus they also threw in many beautiful moments of *comfort* as well (hugging, holding, soothing, even carrying). It was like a hurt/comfort fic-ers fever dream, and I'm not mad about it at all.
I haven’t seen it yet! It’s so long. I just don’t have the time to get to the theaters. I almost went to see it on Christmas day but that didn’t happen. I’ve heard it’s good though!

Do you prefer the angst of Fiyero actually dying and then being brought back as a scarecrow or him being conscious during the transformation? I always pictured it as the spell kicking in before the torture began (because of the "though they beat him let him feel no pain" line) but in the film it seemed like he was hurt pretty badly while still human
Oooooh GOOD QUESTION! Both are excellent options but I lean towards wanting him to be conscious during the transformation and I too also pictured him in the middle of being tortured when Elphaba’s spell kicks in. In the movie it kinda felt like the spell was completed and the transformation began once he was placed on the scarecrow pole aka crucified. Then I’m picturing Fiyero, beaten, broken, dying and suddenly shifting from man to scarecrow and the pain of it all and the fear of it all. I love it. I’m obsessed with it.
I'm so obsessed with Fiyero whump. I can't help imagining what happened off-screen (thanks PG rating) and about how his scarecrow body could reflect his injuries before the spell kicked in. His face is warped on his cheek and it looks almost like a burn scar, and one of his legs seems like it might have been broken at the ankle 🥺. He also has a rope around his neck and it made me wonder if a sack was tied over his head and then became part of him during the transformation
ME TOO!! OH MY GOD ME TOO!!! Fiyero whump is so good and I’m obsessed and I too think about these things and die because AHH IT’S SO GOOD! That transformation had to have hurt and I can’t stop looking at how his ankles keep snapping as he walks in the movie post transformation. Did the guards break that bone? And oh my god yes the sack being tied around his head?! That’s such a good visual. UUUUGHH I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT ALL!!

Oh my god I need to watch it so bad!! I tried to go see it in theaters but I couldn’t find the time. I’ve got a boot of it in my drive waiting to be watched while I wait for the proshot to be released. I’m so excited. But holy crap I did NOT know about that Jonathan Groff scene!?!?! HELL YEAH!! Do you know if will and grace ever had any whump? I know sitcoms don't usually but I didn't know if there was ever an episode where one of them was sick or something?
I freaking LOVE Will and Grace! But sadly yeah there is like zero whump for this show. There is an episode where Will gets sick. 1x18. I think. He gets a cold and Val takes care of him and Grace gets jealous. 5x21 he gets injured and becomes addicted to his painkillers (keep in mind this is a sitcom so it’s mostly played for laughs. I mean he got hurt falling off his clogs.)

Oh good question. My first thought was Timothy Odmunson playing Hephaestus in Percy Jackson but he’s not whumped that I know of. He does use a mobility aid because Timothy himself uses one. Hiccup has an artificial limb in HTTYD. So does Maya Lopez in Echo. Kaz Brekker has chronic pain and a limp and uses a cane. Percival de Rolo shot himself in the hand and now has a prosthetic. Bran Stark in Games of Thrones is a wheelchair user. Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist has a prosthetic arm and leg and chronic pain. Stephen Strange has chronic pain in his hands. Bucky Barnes has a prosthetic. Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies is a wheelchair user (love his whumps). It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it but I remember Michael Weatherly’s character Logan Cale in Dark Angel is in a wheelchair and I think uses a cane in later seasons?
I know I can think of more but I’m out. Especially with chronic pain. I know there are more characters out there who have chronic pain. Whump community! Help us out please!

YOU’RE NOT WRONG! Poor Mike has a very bad time for a while. He goes through a lot of crap. Starts off so idealistic and has a black and white world view and then goes through pain and pain and becomes a little more hardened. Yet never truly loses is idealistic sense of justice. He always wants to do the right thing, to help people. But jeezus does the world kick the shit out of him.

More than it used to which is great! There was like none when I first got in the show and that was depressing but now we have a pretty decent amount and that’s very exciting. There’s like 400 on AO3 now! And there’s some on FF.net too which is where I had to go when I got into the show.

WOOHOO!!! My friend, those are my favorite words to hear. I love getting people interested in Graceland. And dang that is a good question. I’d say yes! I love Prodigal Son so much (how dare they cancel it!). Both shows are cop shows. Both shows have good whump. I think Prodigal Son is darker in tone (and visually lol) cause of the serial killer side of it all while Graceland is much more of the typical 2010s crime show like White Collar (which was made by the same creator) and Burn Notice.
Basically Graceland is about the group of federal agents (DEA, FBI, and Customs) who all live together in this one house, nicknamed Graceland, and they all specialize in undercover work. Mike is a young FBI agent whose first assignment is within Graceland. It’s got great found family stuff, crazy crime plots, interpersonal chaos, great whump.

absolutely no pressure at all to read them, just thought you might enjoy! (i also don't know where you stand on romantic graceland ships, so i picked ones where the dynamics are ambiguous and can be interpreted as either romantic or platonic based on preference)
