HISTORY

  • Jennifer Jareau grew up in North Varsilles, Pennsylvania alongside her sister, Rosaline. 
  • At the age of 11, JJ found her elder sister, 17, dead of suicide in their shared bedroom. 
  • JJ graduated attended East Alleghny High School where she was the captain of the soccer team, as well as the valedictorian when she graduated. 
  • After that she attended GEORGE TOWN COLLEGE on a soccer scholarship where she majored in communications and minored in psychology. She later graduated with a masters degree in communications. 
  • After seeing a presentation by DAVID ROSSI in her senior year of college, JJ decided to apply to the FBI Academy.
  • For many years JJ worked as the LIASON  between her team, the media and local police agencies for the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
  • While working a case in New Orleans she met WILLIAM LAMONTAGNE and the two become romantically involved. She later became pregnant and he relocated to Quantico so that they could be together and they had their first born son, HENRY. Four years later they married and have since had a second son, MICHAEL.
  • In these years JJ was offered a promotion and a position at the PENTAGON. She declined the office twice before being forced to take it and leave the team.
  • This position had her working in the Middle East on a task force with MATTEO CRUZ, MICHAEL HASTINGS and TAVON ASKARI. While overseas she suffered a miscarriage. 
  • In 2011 JJ returns to the BAU, taking a position as a profiler. 
  • In 2014 JJ and MATTEO CRUZ are abducted by HASTINGS and ASKARI and are tortured by the two in an attempt to get their access codes required to access secure FBI files. The two are eventually rescued by the team and HASTINGS and ASKARI are both killed.
  • As a result JJ suffers from sever PTSD resulting in audio and visual hallucinations, as well as anxiety attacks.
