Manage all your Airbnb messages

However you use Airbnb, it’s good to know that all your messages are organized and searchable in one place.

All your messages. All in one place.

You have an All view that unifies all guest, host, and support messages in one place. This means that if you're a host who’s also often a guest (and many are!) you don’t have to switch between hosting and traveling to manage your messages

Group message threads

Once the reservation is made, guests, hosts, and co-hosts can message each other in a single thread, making it much easier to coordinate plans and share information.

Booking or hosting an experience and need to message the host or a specific guest directly? Hosts and guests of experiences can also directly message each other.

Quick message filters

You can easily find whatever you’re looking for by applying a quick filter to differentiate the type of thread you want to access. Ex: Hosting, Support, and Traveling.

Read receipts

Read receipts show whether other recipients have viewed your messages, unless they’ve turned off this feature in their account settings.

Search all your messages

Can't quite remember a person’s name? No problem, just start typing to see all possible results in real-time. Search results take into account your quick filters as well, helping you to refine searches even faster.

Share photos and videos

Give guests a better idea of what you provide or share memories from a trip, service, or experience by sending visual attachments that can be referenced in each message thread’s Gallery. Find out more about sending photos and videos and how they can enhance trips, services, and experiences.

Messaging features

You can access these features by holding and pressing on a message for 1-2 seconds on the Airbnb app or hovering over a message on your desktop.

Edit messages

Correct your grammar and typos. Both guests and hosts can edit their message as many times as they want within 15 minutes after they send it.

Emoji reactions

Emojis let you acknowledge a message with a smiley face, heart, thumbs up, clapping hands, or laughing face.

Threaded replies

When you reply to a specific message as a thread, your response gets nested under the original message. Others can reply in the same way, creating a string of related messages.

Unsend messages

You can unsend a message within 24 hours of sending it—whether you’re a guest or a host.

Things to keep in mind

  • No notifications are sent when a message is edited or unsent.
  • Others in the thread may have already seen the message before you unsent or edited it.
  • Hosts using third-party apps to access their messages may still be able to see previous versions of edited messages or unsent messages.
  • Booking threads that are over a year old will be closed. After that time, the message thread will read: 'This conversation is closed.'
  • We may review, scan, or analyze messages, including a record of unsent and edited messages, for purposes such as legal compliance, trust, safety, and customer support, and as described in our Privacy Policy.

Any messages you send, including any photos or videos you share, should comply with our Content Policy and our Community Standards. If you believe that a message you’ve received violates our policies, you can report the content directly through the app or by contacting us.

Messaging is a powerful tool for hosts

Hosting starts with a warm welcome, and the first message with guests sets the tone for future conversations. But hosts can also save time by using quick replies, which allow them to send personalized messages quickly and automatically to answer frequently asked guest questions.
