I identify the most with the woman who has a green velvet ribbon around her neck and keeps being like “DONT untie my neck ribbon or something really bad will happen” and then her husband unties the ribbon and her head falls off. this is extremely real to me. spent my whole life like “please don’t do this thing to me or really bad stuff will happen” and everyone around me being like “that sounds fake” and doing it anyway. and then my head fell off!

so the thing about Leverage is that by the fifth season you’ll get to an episode called “The D.B. Cooper Job” and think to yourself, ah, of course, this thematic title hints at some kind of aerial crime, or perhaps a case of needing to vanish with a lot of money. Which is why it is so fucking insane that two minutes into the episode Agent McSweeten looks directly onto the camera and asks “hey can you guys please literally solve the real actual D.B. Cooper cold case. it would really mean a lot to my dad.”

Times like these I remember that Malcolm X quote about healing and how it requires acknowledging the knife is there. Things like “this isn’t who we are” and “this is un-American” and “what are we? [insert another country]??” reveal a deep seated denial of American history and state-sponsored domestic terror that I’m just not gonna entertain anymore from leftists over the age of twenty.
