Magnetosphere, an allegory
30 x 24 in, Oil on panel, 2021, homage to Fumée D'Ambre Gris by John Singer Sargent.
In addition to the warmth and light we receive daily, our sun expels a constant barrage of dangerous charged particles called the solar wind. When solar storms occur, flares and coronal mass ejections can be thrown our way at speeds of millions of kilometers per hour. Luckily, movements within earths molten metal core generate a protective magnetic shield around our home planet. Without our magnetosphere to protect us, the solar wind may have long ago stripped away our atmosphere, leaving Earth looking much more like Mars looks today: barren, dry, and lifeless.
Human wellbeing has been shown to benefit greatly from the experience and practice of gratitude, whether that gratitude is directed toward someone else or not. Most of us don’t spend much time thinking about our magnetosphere, but it’s one of the many extraordinary things that make life possible on our little world. This can serve as a reminder to take notice of other things we may be taking for granted in our lives.

'Parfum' prints are also back~ I originally did these back in the ancient days of 2015 Tumblr. They were an editorial commission for Interview Magazine perfume reviews.
Prints will be available until 12/15, and then the store will be closed for the rest of the year!
When I reopened my shop last year I didn't include these because I'm an idiot and the only hi res files are on an old firewire hard drive that I can't access anymore. I've tried for almost a year to troubleshoot various issues and I might still be able to get it back but for now I figured it would be faster to repaint the low res files I do have and get them to print quality.
It sort of felt like trying to restore an old painting 😂 I tried to keep them as close to the originals as possible, but it's been like a decade. I'm a different person and a different artist. Trying to replicate the exact way I painted something ten years ago is impossible, so think of this as the 2025 edition.
This is another concept I always wanted to explore more, trying to visualize smells is such a fun exercise. I feel like I moved through my 20's really fast and didn't stop to let things marinate tbh so might doodle some more of these next year for the hell of it.
