See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Appa's rambles merry Christmas to me and my kid he got a fever today almost 40C so a lot to the folks in the fahrenheit district he's crying I'm trying not to cry his school has had a couple covid cases recently so there's an unfortunate possibility it's that my ex is bringing over a self-test kit tomorrow I'm just gutted I wanted him to have an awesome Christmas and then this thanks 2021 you've been fab negativity I literally may have to go take a shower so I can cry without him realizing

Today is the first time I’ve had to block someone (other than a bot) on Tumblr. I’m gutted. I’ve never had such horrible things said about me as this person did. I am definitely the first person to tell anyone who’ll listen that I’m not perfect, but this person seems to have chosen to hate me based on pretty flimsy evidence. I’ve made so many good friends here and this has for almost three years been my safe place where I come to have fun and connect with like-minded people. Maybe I was too naive to think that if I was just myself, saw the good in everyone and treated everyone with kindness I could avoid some of the nastiness I’ve seen before. I don’t even know why I’m writing this post. To vent, maybe? Or to mark the occasion. Have I now gotten the full Tumblr experience?

Appa's rambles negativity I'll continue to come here and talk to my friends and post silly things but today I am sad and hurt

It is really stupid to add the shirt to the ticket bundles since they are going to be releasing it later on in the merch store. I'll do my best to record the after show and if people get mad at me for letting others watch it, well, I don't really care. :)

I went to look at the Looped FAQ (the site hosting the livestream) and they have some very stern language about recording their lives. I’m not sure if or how they enforce it but just be mindful of that.

I can kinda get adding the shirt to the bundles. They’ve probably thought it’ll incentivize more people to buy the extra shows. But they should have added another option for just the shows, because (at least to me) now it just looks like a cash grab.

Oh, if you can buy the VOD without also having to buy a ticket, maybe that price isn’t so bad, but it should also come free or as a super cheap add-on for people who do buy tickets, and it should really include the after show too. 😫

Yeah, I don’t really get why the after show is not bundled with the VOD. There might be some technical reason I don’t understand. I don’t mind the price on its own but it is strange that you don’t automatically get the VOD if you get the livestream. What if your power goes out and you can’t finish watching the live? Then you have to basically pay double.

I’m not willing to pay more than double the price for a shirt I don’t want as a US MB. I can’t even imagine having to pay that much plus extra for shipping and customs on top of that. It’s horrible they don’t offer an option for the pre/after shows without the shirt. I also think think it’s also kind of crappy that they are making people pay even more if they can’t watch it live. Why not just include the 48 hour re-watch? People have busy lives, and they know they have fans from all around the world? Or if they have to charge, why not just like a few bucks? That really does seem to be picking on international MBs in particular, because who besides some night owls can really be up and enjoy it in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning? If it was going to be 3am here, I know I’d fall asleep halfway through it and not remember anything about it in the morning. Unless they go really wild and kiss or something, that I’d remember. It starts at 10:00pm here, which is the time I usually got to bed and it’s a weekday. That’s bad enough. Seriously though, I’m sorry to you and everyone else around the world for how this is playing out. Do they not want this to be watched? If not, why are they doing it in the first place? Ugh! (Anon)

Okay, so I kinda get where they are going with this whole thing. They can’t really have a concert tour type of thing right now and they wanted to do an online version of that. A limited time event. I get that. I see the appeal of it and I’m on board.

I am also a freaking loyal fan. I buy merch pretty constantly and have been a 3rd tier member of MS since it began. I’m not trying to say this means I think I’m owed something. I don’t. I’m saying this because I’m usually the one going “they gotta make a profit, they are a business”. I can even overlook most of the exclusion of international fans like the shirt giveaway… Yes, I’m salty I can’t win (and getting 5$ off of a shirt that’s quite expensive is not comparable), but I get that type of lottery shit is hard with international law.

But this… Maybe I am not seeing some really obvious reason for the pricing and if I’m not please enlighten me! If they had a concert tour, they wouldn’t make you buy a shirt to see the whole show! Why, oh why couldn’t there be a another ticket option for just the videos?

Also, it’s strange the VOD is separate from the main ticket. The only reason for that I can think of is that the site they are using for the live is billing them more for the recording. But even then, it can’t be that much, right? *shrug*

I’ll still probably pay 20$ for the live, get up at 4:30 am and watch the pre-show and the live with my friends. If something amazing happens in the after show I’m hoping someone manages to gif it.

I don’t want the GME shirt.

I do want to watch the after-show.

If I want to watch the after show I have to pay 25$ extra + 6$ processing fee + 15$ shipping (for a shirt I don’t want).

I’m not sure if I want to pay 46$ for what is like 15 minutes of extra content and a shirt I don’t like.

I wish they had an option for just the videos.

Sigh

@theredquilt Yes to all of this! Why are they not mentioning if it will be available later to watch? Do they not care about non US beasts at all? Also, yes the pre release totally doesn’t make sense. Rhett himself said “check out the pre release if you wanna grab the tickets before everyone else” which has no benefit! There are no “good seats” to grab and I’m sure they won’t limit the total tickets, they have no reason to. And the options honestly make me livid. They’ve deliberately bunched the T-shirt along to charge higher, and I swear if they ask for shipping, I might just tell them to stuff the shirt in their own studio and charge me full price I don’t care.

The tickets aren’t limited. There is no other reason to offer them earlier than to drum up excitement or something. Which is fine I guess. Just seems silly to me.

They are offering a video-on-demand option that can be watched for 48 hours after the livestream for 18$. But that doesn’t include the after- or pre-shows. (Although if you are 1-3rd tier in the Mythical Society you can watch the pre-show there).

Even US peeps have to pay for processing and shipping for the shirt (it’s a bit less, I think around 5$ + 6$). But as a Finn, the fact I’d have to pay 6$, 15$ and quite possibly about 15$ for customs to top that of is just unfair. If the shirt was amazing and I loved it, I would probably try to get it, but now I just can’t make myself do it. I’m unemployed. Even the original price of 45$ was steep for me, so adding 36$ on top of that is basically not possible.

I also feel shitty now because I was really looking forward to GME.

Thoughts on latest car vlog and what Rhett said;

proudmythicalbeast

I’m not NT, and I was not necessarily bothered by what Rhett said, but it was clear to me that this problem is all in his head.

Not everyone enjoys group things in the same way! Like you said, I don’t mind being on the outside of group activities. It doesn’t mean I’m a buzzkill and most people don’t mind. The few that do definitely are like Rhett ‘taking everyones personal enjoyment upon themselves to deliver’ and feel offended by someone who isn’t overtly displaying enjoyment and participating.

Good god I hope he’s not pointing this out to the ‘buzzkills’ because it is so fucking unhelpful to have someone try to force you to have fun and just makes that pushy person the ACTUAL buzzkill, making everyone uncomfortable. I had a friend of friend who would do this to me frequently when I was younger. Say if there was a conversation in a large group where I didn’t feel the need to add anything but was still really enjoying the ~vibes~ , he would turn to me and repeatedly question why I was so quiet and why I didn’t have anything to say, which would make me even quieter and want to not be there at all.

Anyway, I also hope Rhett can pull his foot out of his mouth and see that, like Link said, this is his problem, not the person he thinks is a buzzkill.

apparentlynotreallyfinnish

Rhett has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth but I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and imagine that he meant people that don’t want to participate and make that a big deal. Someone sitting out and pouting and huffing when other people are trying to have fun would be a real buzzkill. But if he genuinely means someone who doesn’t enjoy group activity and would be a lot more happy just watching and cheering from the sidelines… Oh, Rhett, you really need to talk about that in therapy not in a car pool vlog. That’s not a personal insult to you. People are different and enjoy different things and forcing someone to do something that they don’t like is more of a buzzkill than letting them just bow out. (I am one of those people btw. I don’t like group activity and have been the person on the sidelines more often than not.)

Although, now that I really think about it I think I might have a somewhat similar reaction if I’ve arranged something (like a trip or a party… that happens rarely but it does happen). If I sense that someone is not enjoying the activities I would definitely feel responsible and do my best to make them enjoy their time. But that would also include letting them step out if that’s what they needed.
