Mutsugo no Watan Series part 7: Saigo no Wonderland（最後のワンダーランド）

Part seven of the Ososan Baika Watan series (FINALLY).

This video talks about how Karamatsu comes to terms with Osomatsu’s death. He gets lost in ‘Wonderland’, which I understand as his grief and confusion with his self identity, but after he leaves the tunnel at the climax, he manages to embrace his identity again, and Osomatsu comes and greets him. The two make their peace, and Osomatsu manages to pass on peacefully.

I think this is the last song (*screams and whines because I don’t want this series to end*), but Gomaichi, the creator, did post a tweet sometime back that there was going to be one more song.

(I don’t think there’s an English subtitled version or in depth explanation for this video…)

Mutsugo no Watan Series part 6: Jessica　（ジェシカ）

Part six of the Ososan Baika Watan series, from Choromatsu’s POV. Ooh, darn, honestly this series has been nothing but evil to Karamatsu and Choromatsu.

In the previous video, Choromatsu passed out and was hospitalized. As a defense mechanism, he forgot that Osomatsu was actually Karamatsu. After Choromatsu eventually finds out the truth and accepts it (after a whole lot of drama and threatening to kill Karamatsu), it should be noted that his acceptance of Osomatsu’s death could be what pushed Karamatsu’s eyes to turn blue at the end of the video.

Mutsugo no Watan Series part 5: Daruma-san Ga Koronda　（だるまさんがころんだ）

Part five of the Ososan Baika Watan series, from Todomatsu’s POV. It focuses on how Todomatsu comes to a slow realization that his brothers are keeping him out of the loop over something. Karamatsu, who’s posing as Osomatsu, decides to play a game with Todomatsu, Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu. If Osomatsu (Karamatsu) wins, they will all continue on with the everyday lives with Karamatsu being the one who’s perceived dead. The symbolism behind this video is really cool, because when Todomatsu realizes the truth that Karamatsu’s still alive, he rips out his black jacket to symbolize that his ‘mourning period is over since he’s not going to mourn for someone who isn’t dead.’

Fun fact: Daruma-san Ga Koronda is the Japanese version of Red Light, Green Light. It’s also the game Jyushimatsu was playing with his girlfriend in episode 9.

Mutsugo no Watan Series part 4: Gadget Cheat!　（ガジェットチート！）

Baika Watan | Kaerazu | I Who Say Goodbye to This Crumbling World | Gadget Cheat! | Daruma-san Ga Koronda | Jessica | Saigo no Wonderland

Part 4 of the Ososan Baika Watan series! It’s an alternate ending in which Jyushimatsu goes to make friends with aliens who have the technology to bring the dead back to life. Jyushimatsu saves the day, Karamatsu turns back to normal, Osomatsu gets revived and everybody lives happily ever after on a planet that’s an hour’s distance away from earth. It’s as crazy as it sounds.

(PS: I just realized that Jyushimatsu, Karamatsu and Osomatsu make up the primary colors!) Sadly I don’t think there’s an English subtitled video for this one. ;;

Mutsugo no Watan Series part 3: I Who Say Goodbye to This Crumbling World　（崩れゆく世界にさよならを言う僕は）

Part three of the Ososan Baika Watan series, from Ichimatsu’s POV. It reveals that Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu KNOW about Karamatsu posing as Osomatsu, but they refuse to say anything for personal reasons. At the end of the song, Jyushimatsu chose to “jump off the train tracks”, which I interpret as him leaving to try and fix the situation, whereas Ichimatsu chose to “remain standing in the crumbling world”, which means he’ll continue alone to silently watch Karamatsu’s decision tear the family apart.

Here’s part two of the Ososan Baika Watan series - so to recap, this story is essentially about Osomatsu dying, and Karamatsu acting as Osomatsu for his brothers’ behalf as well as himself. As a result everyone thinks Karamatsu’s dead and Osomatsu’s the one that’s alive.It’s a really brilliant and messed up story - definitely one of my favourite ososan AUs. (The 7th part of the series was just released yesterday I’m SCREAMING-)
