Fair price and easy to deal with

Decided to clear out a small amount of silver and gold that had been sat in a drawer for years. Gold prices have risen lately so took them in to the Shirley branch. Spoke to Scott, within 15 minutes I walked out with what I thought was a good price. Would recommend

Visiting the Torquay branch

Visiting the Torquay branch, the staff are always helpful shop clean and the goods are always in good standing. They are very similar to Cash Generators and Cash Converters but somehow seam slightly more relaxed. Look forwards to visiting again for more great prices.

Legally correct, knowingly morally wrong

Hi all, ok Iv been trading gold/silver with Shirley Cash creators for the past couple of years.
They offer all customers a lay by 3month period on all goods and for gold.
With the gold price hype over the past couple of years Terry the in store sales guy and scott the manger had been offering there regular customers a longer layby time to pay. (generally six months for each £3000 purchase).
The store manager scott was always aware of the additional allowed durations for regular customers and was always happy to warrant this. This had been working great for Cash creators and myself for around 18months.
In October 2025 they agreed for me to purchase £3500 worth of gold and silver on extended payment period. in November a second layby of £500 again on agreed extended payment period. And in December a £300 lay-by again agreed extended payment period.
I had made payments on all agreements no different to always. December when I made the third purchas I made them aware that I would be on holiday and I would return at the end of January and complete the first purchase. They was happy with this.
On my return to store after holiday the store manager scott had cancelled the agreements completely.
He was honest and said he had cancelled all purchases regardless of agreements as the hype of gold had increased dramatically while I was away and that they were verbal agreements only.
Although this is legally correct, this is morally wrong. I will no longer be trading with them there untrustworthy and go back on agreement when suits.

In addition, they have now within 20 minutes of posting on facebook blocked me on there Facebook page to be able to remove my fb review,, sneaky but shows what there like,,

I have since received replies on all my reviews, which are partial copies of their email reply to me Missing key points they sent,,as pictured. The only missing facts are my reactions and the fact that you tried to call although you knew I was away. My total loss of their cancellations exceeded £1300 so £195 compensation and offer of Further business does not really touch it. Why would further business with you be considered with this in mind?
Why were additional purchases up to 7th December accepted if what you say that I made no payments was correct.
Contact could not be made as you was aware was I abroad.

I do not completely disagree with your comments (although they ignore some key details) and your Google review will remain up to give you a chance to voice your opinion, our Facebook account is managed by someone else who blocked you.

Least my reviews people can be cautious.
And deleting my Facebook review clearly shows your hiding facts.

Hey Stephen, your review leaves out a few key points -

- We tried to contact you multiple times before cancelling
- While we keep items for longer for our regular paying customers, you had not made a payment since November and had not even paid quarter of the agreements that were due
- I offered you a full refund including inital deposit rather than take the 10% deposit like I had rights to
- I paid you £195 extra in a refund to try to positively resolve the situation, again something I did not need to do
- You had no firm agreement with anyone in store regarding these agreements except for a phone call we recieved after they had already been cancelled
- I offered further business with a discounted price to yourself

The way you acted in my store was both threatening and uncalled for and I am happy we will no longer do business, as much as I will always try to resolve situation positively for customers, I will never tolerate threats towards my staff. Good luck finding a business that looks after its customers as much as we do.
