BAYALARM =ZERO STARS

If I could give this terrible company a zero review I would. Firstly ,they start billing you the cost of the monthly service even if you can’t get your equipment installed. In our case the line provided did not work for the phone jack. So I contacted them and their Tech solution was to connect during the week so they can test the equipment. Obviously we can’t connect because the line isn’t for the phone jack at the house . So even when your equipment isn’t installed and they know that, they will charge you the monthly service fee. Secondly when you and if you decide to ship the box back to them they don’t provide any shipping labels - your stuck paying the shipping yourself or pay the 299.00 for their equipment . Stay away from this company. There are several out there much better. You’ve been forewarned .

Bay Alarm and DEI programs.

I recently learned that Bay Alarm has decided to step back from DEI programs, and this has truly disappointed me. As a loyal customer, I believe in supporting brands that align with values of diversity and inclusion. Therefore, I will be reconsidering my shopping choices moving forward. I also feel compelled to share this on my professional Facebook page, where I have over 12,000 followers, as I believe it’s important for others to be informed. I hope to see Bay Alarm reconsider its stance on such vital programs in the future.

Unreliable Installation even after 10+ Visits

I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with the installation and service provided by Bay Alarm. My experience with your company has been nothing short of frustrating and unreliable.

I previously used ADT for over 20 years in my previous home without a single issue. However, my experience with Bay Alarm has been the complete opposite. Not only has my original quoted price increased multiple times, but your team has made about 10+ trips to my home, and the system is still not functioning properly. Just few examples:

- The system has triggered false alarms at odd times, including a siren going off at midnight, and I have received daytime call for a triggered door.

- Today, I was unable to remotely arm the system due to a "trouble" notification, and when I arrived home, the siren was blaring due to yet another issue.

- I have also learnt that Bay Alarm installed two different systems (DMP and Honeywell) with a translator in between--in a brand new installation--which seems like an unnecessary and unreliable setup.

I have already spent $7,000-$8,000, far exceeding my initial quote, yet the system remains unreliable. I fail to understand how Bay Alarm operates efficiently if it takes appx 10 trips to install and troubleshoot a security system while still failing to deliver a functional setup.

While Jeanine in escalation has been helpful, she can only do so much. When I asked to escalate the matter further, I was simply told to wait because upper management was unavailable. This lack of accountability is completely unacceptable.

The person Wylie who sold the system is no longer with the company.

I look forward to your urgent response. My wife is challenged me to just go to ADT due to Bay alarm's inabilities

Bay Alarm has Horrible Service

They did not check to see if we had a 'Police Alarm Permit' before installing our alarm, then we had a False Alarm & got a bill from the LAPD for $267. There is a LA Municipal code section 103.206, requires alarm companies to check for a permit & obtain if there is none. I sent the bill to the alarm email(the only way to contact them, conveniently) & they will not respond. I've called 3 times to customer service & they said "we'll reach out & you'll hear back today".....Then.... NOTHING.! Yet I'm getting my alarm bill promptly on time! I'd pick another alarm company FOR SURE!!!

Constant Problems

I installed a brand new Bay Alarm system that required not one, not two, but SEVEN tech visits in the first year. Even the technicians thought this was outrageous, and one of them urged me to escalate my complaint and ask for a one year extension on the warranty. No dice. Apparently the company won't stand by their product no matter how deficient it is -- or how expensive. Bay Alarm is pricey, but I figured I would get what I paid for. No such luck. Buyer beware.

High Monitoring Fees, Faulty Equipment, Inappropriate Charges

Bay Alarm requires customers to purchase equipment up front when they install a system, then pay for monitoring. The equipment is costly and customers don't have choices on the equipment. Much of their standard equipment doesn't work, or works only for a short period of time. Expect to spend a lot of time waiting around for service calls that do nothing to fix it. Also expect to pay their $125/hr or more labor fee to attempt to fix what never worked, plus sometimes the suggestion that you might also pay for new equipment to replace the old equipment that never worked. In this case the installers demanded the network security password to install rather than allowing the customer to type it into their phone. Later on it was learned that the password was recorded and passed on to other installers. Also learned on cancelation that someone had gone into the system years after the purchase of a one-year plan to add a three year contract with a relatively recent start date - which would mean the the service contract could not be canceled. Thankfully the person who closed the account was able to identify that it was an error, apologized, and closed the account as requested. They could be reported, yet they always apologize and ask for the opportunity to fix - they just never, ever fix it. They just take your time again and again, and try to wear you down while preserving a farce of an excuse that they're trying to fix the issue and you want to cancel rather than allow them the opportunity to make amends - while they continue to charge the full, outrageously high monitoring fee. This was a second round with Bay Alarm, several years after termination the first time. Unfortunately both times service was canceled due to poor equipment and service. Save yourself the trouble of learning or confirming,

Marc in the commercial sales department…

Marc in the commercial sales department really went above and beyond when I was trying to get glass break sensors installed in my house. He no longer works residential but went out of his way to hook me up with a competent residential sales associate named Tessa. He then credited my account for two months worth of service because I had to wait about a month to schedule an appointment. Thank you Marc!

Big disappointment from a long time customer

We have been a Bay Alarm customer for +25 years. After buying a house in San Mateo in 1997 we had Bay Alarm come in and set up alarm monitoring for the entire house. During a remodel in early 2000's Bay Alarm did a quality job adding security features to the windows and doors that were replaced.

However, recently, the quality of service from the install/repair has been poor at best. I tried to schedule the replacement of the alarm contacts when we were replacing our family room door so that the Bay Alarm could come out while the framing was exposed so they could reuse the existing wiring. I was told that they were not able to come out in advance. I was told to wait until the doors were installed. When I called after that, when they came out, they said they couldn't reuse the wiring and had to install wireless contacts. That was a big disappointment. The wireless contacts haven't been the greatest as we have had several connection issues with the wireless contacts.

Just the last week, we scheduled Bay Alarm to come out to replace the wired contact for the bathroom window. The window has been replaced but the existing wiring was still accessible, and the walls had not been covered up by sheet rock. The tech came out and said they didn't have a drill to drill through a 2x4 to route the wire. How is this possible? I would think that would be a basic tool. We had to reschedule and have our remodel contractor drill the holes. We did that and Bay Alarm came back out, this time the tech said he couldn't trace the wire and just installed an ugly wireless contact.

I called Bay Alarm and asked to speak with a service manager to express my frustration. What happened next was even more discouraging. The service manager called the tech while the tech was still onsite and I overheard the conversation that the service manager had with the tech where the service manager was derating me as a customer.

The biggest issue is the tech eliminated a zone from our home security system during this repair, so we have an outside door that is no longer being monitored. In my view there is a serious quality issue and customer service is poor.

I can no longer trust Bay Alarm to provide professional repair and they are no longer a trusted service provider.

Bay Alarm can’t be trusted

Bay Alarm can’t be trusted. Our house alarm went off in the middle of the night twice since the last couple of months. It was just false alarm due to their not smart systems. We were very scared when it went off and called 911, unfortunately it was just something happened with their systems. We are tired that it didn’t get fix by Bay Alarm. I don’t feel they’re protecting our property. We are looking for a new trusted alarm company.

False information

I did a review for John the manager in Petaluma a few days ago as he was helpful with a electrical problem and the battery problem. Where the bay alarm panel was plugged in. After the conversation I understood wasn't going to be charged for the visit. I had also been told false information by the salesman when I signed up to Bay Alarm, that the unit would be covered by the battery fi their was a power outage We had gone over this at the first visit because this was very important on making a decision to go with Bay Alarm. When I found out the battery was only good for 3 to 4 hours. I was told the battery would backup the unit for any power outages. Which could be 24 to 48 hours.

Terrible Experience

This has been one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had with a service provider. It has been problem after problem from the start. It’s frankly startling how many errors, mistakes, and issues have arisen. We are 2 very busy attorneys who have now wasted countless hours dealing with what should have been such a simple process. Please contact me to discuss how Bay Alarm can fix all of the problems caused by its salespeople and installers.

Good overall

Good overall . There were some snags that made it frustrating but overall it was ok. I think it would have been more pleasant and thorough if the salesperson and I would have met to make the whole job easier. This was handled by a 3rd party at the beginning and ended with me the owner. Also appears that some personal issues on salesperson part affected getting a hold of him to accomplish last detail. The financial office in SSF was very helpful. He cleared up the entire mess of final payment.
