purchased brand new brother laser printer HL-L1230w and its the worst printer I have ever used, failed to work straight out of the box, tried all brother printer apps and still not working, you need to be I.T expert to run this printer, only way to get it to work was by using otg cable and third party software, this printer reminds me of using windows 95 on dail up with the problems it gave me,not a user friendly product and their software is not user friendly, will not purchase any more brother products the whole experience was very dissapointing to say the least, never again, its made me not even think about buying any printer again, this printer makes a good doorstop

Marketed as Industrial - can't replace the cutting blade

Marketed as Industrial, Treated as Disposable
I purchased two Brother PT-E550 / PT-550 label printers based on Brother’s marketing as industrial / trade-grade machines. Both units had very light use and are now unusable because the cutter blade has gone blunt.
Brother does not supply replacement blades and confirmed the blade is not user-replaceable. Despite knowing this, Brother instructed me to contact authorised service agents and suppliers, even though the machines are out of warranty and Brother’s own website states that the cost of repair is likely to exceed the cost of the machine and customers are advised to replace it. This resulted in hours wasted chasing a solution Brother already knew did not exist.
This behaviour felt like a deliberate attempt to divert and frustrate the consumer rather than address the issue honestly. An industrial product should not become a throwaway item due to a basic wear component that cannot be replaced.
To make matters worse, I now have $300–$400 worth of Brother tape cartridges that are useless unless I buy another printer.
All I ever asked for was how to fix the machines and where to buy the parts. The ethics of how this was handled are extremely disappointing. I have escalated the matter to the ACCC and strongly caution other trade and business buyers to look elsewhere.

Brother black toner TN2350R (substitute for Fuji Xerox)…

Brother black toner TN2350R (substitute for Fuji Xerox
laser toner CT202330)
Every day I have to take the cartridge out and shake it
before using my printer. It can still leave a near blank
print down the right-hand side of the page.
I'm staying with the genuine Fuji Xerox cartridge.

I would not come anywhere near Brother…

I would not come anywhere near Brother printers. My experience with them has been a nightmare. Purchased a laser printer at Officeworks and within 6mths (not even used much) it just stopped working and would not turn on. Contacted Brother and they do not replace, instead they repair. Their repair partners are hopeless. 1. Partner repairers are useless. I've contacted one nearly everyday and either can't get through or never there for me to drop the printer off. Brother then want me to travel elsewhere further to another of their repairers. A huge inconvenience. They'll just send you everywhere without consideration of your personal circumstances. 2. Slow to respond. After complaining about their service partner and chasing them they offered to pick up. I never heard back and chased again. 3. Brother nor Officeworks will not give a refund for their rubbish printers. 3. Their technical support is atrocious. After care sale non-existent. The person I dealt with was terrible, no empathy at all. Unless you want to deal with rubbish printers and horrible non existent support do not buy this brand. You will regret if something goes wrong. I have been battling and chasing for.nearly three weeks and my printer is still not fixed. I'm at a point where I am traumatised when I see or hear of this brand. I just want the printer gone and my hard earned money back. I have reported the company to ACCC and Fair trading for breaching basic consumer rights for products and repair.

Brother's "Customer First" approach lacks any Accessibility

Brother practice Disability Discrimination by insisting their warranties for MFCs are 'back to base'. Not everyone is able bodied and capable of packing up the whole MFC and consumables and taking it to one of their Authorised Service Centres for assessment. So not only is the MFC not of acceptable quality, but there is also zero I can do about it.
