Despite several calls and emails to ING and previous bank to keep my old checking account open till March 2026, account was still closed on 31.12.2025.
Also regarding the above, no one from ING took responsibility - I got answers like “I can’t see what was requested, sorry.”
It seems once the process is in place- automated or not-it is unstoppable and the customer just has to deal with it.
If I had to do this again, I wouldn’t. I also will not recommend to anyone to switch to ING.
And now I notice I can’t just send my survey, I have to sign in. Not a good customer experience either.

I switched to ING-DiBa because I was looking for a more reliable and secure bank, and in that regard, it absolutely delivers. Full points for safety and reliability. Everything works smoothly, and it’s clear that the bank is designed to be used both via the app and the web, which makes a lot of sense. The security standards are excellent and very reassuring.
What is really disappointing, however, is the lack of an English option. Both the app and the web interface are only available in German. The chat support is in German, and even customer service by phone is conducted exclusively in German. In my experience, even as a decent German speaker, it can be quite difficult to fully understand and explain financial matters—especially when the agents speak with a strong regional accent rather than Hochdeutsch.

This is the worst bank that I ever used. I would suggest people who lives in Germany don't use them. They don't have any branch in Germany and they claim themself online technology banking but as soon as you have an issue they ask you to send them a letter to fix your issue! This doesn't sound to me an online bank.
It's really hard to reach them by phone, you have to enter account info, one time code etc. to talk a person, it takes minimum 30 minutes, then the person you finally reach starts yelling at you to say this is all your fault, she can do nothing, I have to send a signed letter! Again this is not online technology banking vision. Why don't you fix issue directly instead of yelling at me, you are sure that I am the person who own the account.
My issue is that they blocked my bank account because I was late to inform them my address change, even I redirected my address to a friend house temporary (this is a common thing that people does in Germany, DHL has special service for it). I didn't have any issue with my other banks in Germany, they continue communicate with me over my redirected address but ING.
Also suspicious thing is that they blocked my account when I start moving my money, before that there was no issue! Another funny thing that my account has been blocked a while, I can't use it and I don't know when they are going to open it again because communication is base on last technology letter system but they still continue cutting monthly service charge, so basically they can block an account for a reason then they can continue to cut service charge to take your money!

The app does not let you change the language, it just sticks to the language of the country you reside in, which is obviously very problematic for starters.. Understanding what each button does is a pretty important thing when it comes to banks. ING has a ton of hidden fees that they do not warn you about. Clunky and odd UI & UX experience. About 50% of the services provided in the app are actually in the app, the rest is accessible through their online web page, which I don't understand, even as someone who has experience in cybersecurity..
2 stars instead of 1, as it is by far the least horrible online German bank.

We have been customers from IND Diba since more than 10 years, their service has been always super uncomplicated, fast to answer and specially always efficient and helpful.
Never a problem.
On Top of that we don´t have to pay extra charges for having an spare account with them.
We are really satisfied with this bank.

The worst bank in the world, especially with the new AI customer support system.
I had issues from the beginning of opening account, the approval letter was not arriving to my post, then the code. But at least for this I was able to reach to customer support and solve it after 5 times calling.
Now with the new AI customer support, they don't understand a native german speaker and I'm waiting in the queue for more then 1 hour to be connected to the customer support that cant solve my problem. I have an issue that from opening the account my card or apple pay is not working and they keep transferring me to fraud department of they partners, not wanting to solve anything, and the partners are saying that there is no fraud detection, which is indeed true because the card was not working from the beginning??? The issues is still not solved as Im writing this.

I have been with ING DiBa for almost 15 years and have never had a bad experience. In particular, I have noticed that ING has the best customer service worldwide. You do not have to go through 80 questions only to end up with someone in a call center on the other side of the world, but instead you reach a reliable and friendly advisor who, at least in my personal experience so far, has acted in my best interest. I have now also moved my entire TradeRepublic account over to ING, as I can rely on high reliability and excellent accessibility to different markets when investing.

I have been rejected twice as a permanently employed mechatronics engineer in Bayern. ING does not provide any motivation, or explanation of sorts. I am italian and moved to Germany in 2025.
Beyond the rejection, which is of course frustrating, I receive no feedback to my questions neither by email, nor via phone, as they "cannot give any details".

They don’t provide transaction data for more than a year.
To be more specific, in the online banking (or the app) you can only view or export account transactions (“Kontoumsätze”) for the past 12 months.
I contacted customer service to request CSV files covering the previous two years. In their first reply, they referred me to my post box (where I can find Kontoauszüge, but no table or spreadsheet data). In their second reply, they simply wrote: “Den von Ihnen gewünschten Service bieten wir nicht an.”
Every other bank I know allows access to older transaction data in spreadsheet format — very disappointing and poor service.

ING DiBa De is really good, I have been with them for over 20 years now and everything is spot on. I have fiinanced 2 Properties through ING and all went very good. OK one thing to mention recently its been very difficult to reach them over the phone but via EMail and ING DiBa Portal was all working out well! In particular the conditions for House financing mortgage were at very competative rate and throughout transparent! Bank Cards etc. all super cool! Overall eperience -
thanks god I was with ING DIBA!!!!

Complete lies about loan increase at any time.
I’m for quite a long time with ING and got many different things and already paid off few loans, but stating that existing loan can be increased at any time is complete false and at the end of the application they promote check24 even worse option than any other imaginable. If I would want to use check24 for sure won’t try to get a loan on directly with ING. So once it was a perfect bank now it’s a perfect scam. Very Sad…
