Use only the free version!

Just adding my voice to the many complaints about the poor customer service and borderline scam-like practices. I signed up for the free trial and unexpectedly ended up locked into a six-month contract. Customer service showed no understanding or willingness to offer any flexibility. I wasn’t even in the city for the first three months, so I couldn’t use the service at all. I at least hoped they would postpone the start of the contract.
On top of this, the premium plan is far too expensive for what it offers. Even well-prepared applications often go unanswered, making the service feel like poor value overall.

I subscribed to TenantPlus after being…

I subscribed to TenantPlus after being offered a 7 day free trial. At no point was it clearly communicated that failing to cancel would result in being locked into a compulsory six month subscription. This lack of transparency already set the tone for what followed.

I subscribed based on the promise of specific benefits, including a free debt enforcement register extract. I ordered the extract while logged into my Homegate TenantPlus account, and the final screen clearly showed a zero cost.

Despite this, I later received an invoice from CRIF. I contacted Homegate immediately and provided evidence, including written confirmation from CRIF that the request originated via Homegate. I also shared screenshots of my correspondence among others.

Instead of properly investigating the issue, Homegate repeatedly sent the same generic response, claiming that the extract is only free if ordered correctly. They failed to explain why it appeared as free at checkout and did not meaningfully review the evidence I submitted. My follow up messages were ignored for weeks, during which time additional late payment charges from CRIF accumulated.

This experience has been marked by poor communication, lack of accountability, and a clear refusal to investigate a legitimate billing issue. Given the misleading presentation of costs, the lack of clear subscription terms, and the systematic dismissal of complaints, I am led to believe this is not an accident but a deliberate scam scheme. The consistent ignoring of my grievances only reinforces this conclusion.

For a paid subscription, this level of conduct is unacceptable. I would not recommend TenantPlus.

This is a complete scam

This is a complete scam. No announcement, the ones that appear are fake.

DO NOT START THE FREE TRIAL AND IF YOU DO, CANCEL IT BEFORE THE DEADLINE OTHERWISE THE SUBSCRIPTION WILL START AND YOU WILL RECIEVE INVOICES FOR 6 MONTHS (180 CHF IN TOTAL)

Absolutely awful company!!

Absolutely awful company!!! Do not deal with this company. TERRIBLE!! Fraudulent. Make you sign up for 6 months without it being clear. Then make it impossible to pay then make money on late fees.

Bad service with no benefits

After applying for a seven day trial and agreeing to monthly subscription, they hide that that the monthly subscription can't be cancelled for 6 months. Additionally, there is no point to even have tenant plus since many of the ads are not actual or you receive no response. So you are paying for premium service when really there is zero benefit. They don't even ensure the ads are updated or real.

This company should be sued

This company should be sued. I subscribed to the premium and canceled after two weeks, but they continue to charge me for 6 months.
They don't answer emails nor any customer service.

Homegate.ch an Awful company

Awful company, do not do business with this company.
Do not respond to any emails ... ever! Did not post my advert after, supposedly reviewing it, for over a week.
Very quick to try and charge me money for absolutely no service.

un-Swiss in terms of fairness and business practices

I would never publish any ads with Homegate, nor would I recommend their services. Their pricing is very non-transparent, and they charge credit cards aggressively without giving customers a clear view of when the next charge will occur. It is also impossible to cancel a plan in advance. Overall, this feels increasingly un-Swiss in terms of fairness and business practices.

Utterly disgusting unethical business…

Utterly disgusting unethical business running a trick 7 day trial with autorenewal, no reminders than then lock in a 3 month premium subscription. They take no payment details - instead they sting users with 3 months of invoices months after the fact, go on to harass those users and refer them to aggressive debt collectors. All for a subpar service that adds no value. Disgusting.

This is the worst website I've used for house hunting. I'm now in debt because of their subscription model. It's outrageous to charge someone for three full months after just a 7-day free trial. To make matters worse, they forwarded my case to debt collectors—despite the fact that I never received a single invoice via email. As an expat, I strongly advise others to avoid this website at all costs.

⚠️ Warning about Homegate ⚠️
Be careful with Homegate’s “free trial week”! If you forget to cancel it (and the end date is not clearly communicated), they automatically switch you to a paid subscription without warning.

They charged me 250 CHF, even though the original price was 99 CHF. On top of that, their system duplicated my ad without my consent, leading to an extra invoice.

I tried to cancel and complain, but they clearly don’t care about having satisfied customers. They ignore messages, don’t answer phone calls, and just keep charging outrageous amounts for a simple ad.

They even charged me for a Twitter service I never requested (luckily, it was refunded the next day).

There are many other users complaining on social media and consumer portals about unclear terms, lack of transparency, and unjustified charges.

👉 There are many other platforms that are free or more transparent. Don’t fall into this trap!

Je me fais harceler par cette entreprise qui me réclame des montants très élevés alors que je désirais simplement placer une annonce sans savoir qu'il me faudrait donner mon RIB et payer 3 mois même si j'ai essayer de me connecter plusieurs fois sans succès et enfin réussi après 1 mois de tentatives et de emails au support à supprimer mon annonce et mon compte. Est-ce possible de faire une plainte formelle relativement à la protection des consommateurs?

Legal Basis for My Complaint
The lack of transparent fee disclosure potentially violates several provisions of Swiss law:

Federal Act on Unfair Competition (UCA): The Federal Supreme Court in case BGE 135 III 1 emphasized that consumers must be provided with all information relevant to their purchasing decision. Your failure to clearly disclose this fee before I used the service prevented me from making an informed decision, which likely constitutes an unfair business practice under Article 3 of the UCA.
Case Precedent: In a 2019 ruling (4A_98/2019), the Federal Supreme Court held that businesses must ensure transparency in their pricing and contractual terms. The court specifically noted that hiding fees in fine print or failing to prominently disclose them may constitute an unfair commercial practice.
Swiss Code of Obligations: The principle of good faith (Article 2 of the Swiss Civil Code) requires parties to act honestly in their contractual relationships. In case BGE 143 III 675, the Federal Supreme Court emphasized that this includes providing clear and complete information about all costs associated with a service before a consumer agrees to utilize it.
Consumer Protection Precedent: The Commercial Court of Zurich (HG170181-O) ruled in 2018 that online service providers must clearly communicate all fees before a user commits to a service, and that retroactive billing without clear prior notice constitutes a violation of fair trading practices.
Contract Validity: As established in BGE 132 III 24, if I entered into this agreement under a fundamental misconception about its terms (error in contract under Articles 23 and 24 of the CO), the contract may be voidable. My belief that no such fee would be charged constitutes precisely such an error.
