Erratomania
03:14
|
|||
|
I know you think you know a lot
You want to show me what you've got
That pressure building up inside
You wanna blow my fucking mind
You talk and talk and never stop
Decided you're my savior
That I should lap up every drop
Of your erratomania
Is this some kind of social dance
Where you assert your dominance?
Or is it just that you know facts
And you can't keep them in your pants?
You think you're clever and you're wise
I think it's bad behavior
You want me worshipping the size
Of your erratomania
Furious self-ingratiation
Won't beget appreciation
You think your going on and on
Is us having a conversation?
I do not know
I do not care
Keep talking at my mortal flesh
My soul's just over there
At least I can check out my mind
Since it's all just the same to you
My spirit will not be a slave
To your erratomania

Simple Things
03:29
|
|||
|
Such simple feelings
Move your will
Such useless motions
Can't sit still
Your simple thoughts
Are almost cute
It's such a pity
You're a brute
And every novel thing
You think is so damned fine
Is just the same old crap
You go for every time
When you screw up and fail
You don't think of your deed
You groan a little, then you rise
You rinse and you repeat
And even when it's plain
You're doing it again
You up and double down
Insist it's not the same
And when you smack your face
Into the idiot wall
You yell it's not your fault
And then repeat it all
And every novel thing
You think is so damned fine
Is just the same old crap
You go for every time
You think your plight is cosmic
But you are not unique
There's millions of your kind
And that makes me the freak
To you, I’m not a person
So I’m ok to hurt
And you have zero fucks to give
About what I’ve endured
You like to shout and scream
And hurt me for your fun
Then you get tired and dream
Of simple things you’ve done
For every dumb mistake of yours
I manage to forestall
You spit on me and crush my face
Against your god damned wall
So you can count me out
Of your retarded games
I'm happier to watch you bleed
For each of your mistakes
But if a spark of sense
Gets beaten into you
Get on your knees and beg
For me to guide you true
And if your brutish ways
Are fodder I can use
And your remorse is true
Then I will not refuse

Pawns & Queens

All of the peers who stay true to the throne
Take their places proudly among their own
If those craven fools had acknowledged the crown
They would not give me reason to cut them down
Divine right is the source of all of my power
If you think it a jest, you will hang in the tower
If you bring war to my house and you think it a game
I will show you how a queen guards her domain
Your treacherous kind is past any redemption
You will perish in fire of your own creation
And if you only understand the sword
There is no quarter that I will afford
All of the peers who stay true to the throne
Take their places proudly among their own
If those craven fools had acknowledged the crown
They would not give me reason to cut them down
You think it will be so easy
As just parting with your head?
I will make of you a lesson
That your line will not forget
Your treacherous kind is past any redemption
You will perish in fire of your own creation
And if you only understand the sword
Then I will answer you a thousand fold
All of the peers who stay true to the throne
Take their places proudly among their own
If those craven fools had acknowledged the crown
They would not give me reason to cut them down
In chess, the king can move one space at a time
But the vizier goes where my enemies lie
And when his hooded men will take you away
You'll never see the light of day
All of the peers who stay true to the throne
Take their places proudly among their own
If those craven fools had acknowledged the crown
They would not give me reason to cut them down

The Petitioner
04:33
|
|||
|
My people will rise, for what else have we got?
My living or dying - it matters not
And if you think to put us all to the sword
You will make a mistake that you can't afford
My beautiful land, what did you know of its worth?
Oh, heaven was a place on Earth
But our bountiful fields are now laying bare
My people - living on a prayer
If you were but a noble and I ruined your land
Would it be so hard to understand?
I petitioned you as is a subject's right
But you rejected my pleas outright
My people will rise, for what else have we got?
My living or dying - it matters not
And if you think to put us all to the sword
You will make a mistake that you can't afford
So pass your judgement while you still can
Be judge and jury just to play pretend
Be my executioner, but understand
I will not suffer you as my liege again
If you were but a noble and I ruined your land
Would it be so hard to understand?
I petitioned you as is a subject's right
But you refused to see reason - so now I fight
My people will rise, for what else have we got?
My living or dying - it matters not
And if you think to put us all to the sword
You will make a mistake that you can't afford
Poison flows through my heart and your spies are too late
You gave your house a bad name
I played my part and you play your game
You gave your house a bad name
If the kingdom had put a just queen on the throne
My people would still have hearth and home
To all noble houses still fighting alone
You will never be fighting on your own
Poison flows through my heart and your spies are too late
You gave your house a bad name
I played my part and you play your game
You gave your house a bad name

Death of the Varyag
02:57
|
|||
|
On deck, faithful comrades, step into your place
The final parade is now coming.
"Varyag" will not bow to the enemy fleet,
Their mercy would be unbecoming.
The pennants are flying - chains rattle afore,
And clang as the anchors are lifting.
The guns on the main deck are ready for war,
Their barrels are wickedly glinting.
The flashes of light and the pounding on steel,
The thunder and hiss of the gunfire,
Made our graceful, glorious cruiser "Varyag"
A hell filled with darkness and fire.
In their dying agony, trembling men -
Their cries lost in groaning and thunder.
A blaze overtaking the vessel entire,
Farewells as the ship tears asunder
Goodbye, faithful comrades, farewell and hurrah!
Below us the roiling ocean.
That we die today in the depths of the sea,
We hadn't the faintest notion.
No crosses or monuments mark where we sleep,
Where we gave our lives for our country.
The sea will forever remember the place
Where "Varyag" gave battle so proudly!

The Deep-Sea Cables
03:44
|
|||
|
The wrecks dissolve above us; their dust drops down from afar—
Down to the dark, to the utter dark, where the blind white sea-snakes are.
There is no sound, no echo of sound, in the deserts of the deep,
Or the great grey level plains of ooze where the shell-burred cables creep.
Here in the womb of the world—here on the tie-ribs of earth
Words, and the words of men, flicker and flutter and beat—
Warning, sorrow and gain, salutation and mirth—
For a Power troubles the Still that has neither voice nor feet.
They have wakened the timeless Things; they have killed their father Time
Joining hands in the gloom, a league from the last of the sun.
Hush! Men talk to-day o'er the waste of the ultimate slime,
And a new Word runs between: whispering, 'Let us be one!'

At Night
04:37
|
|||
|
The darkness falls to keep discrete
Your disconcerting tasks.
It's for the best nobody cares -
That way nobody asks.
The night will tear you from inside
And eat you bit by bit.
Don't sit if you can rest your head -
Don't stand if you can sit.
You won't know when the time will come
Or what your time will bring.
Until the call comes, you won't know
The person, place or thing.
Head to the pillow, face the wall
So as to get some sleep.
A wrenching trill will pierce your sheet
To drag you from the deep.
Shake off your dreams, prepare your kit
And head out through the door.
Tonight we leave to do some things
The day will judge us for.
It matters neither if you can,
Nor if you think you can't.
You're dancing to the drumbeat of
The ticking second hand.
The minute hand rolls slowly as
To measure out your dread.
The hour hand to crush your will
'Till there is nothing left.
Ignore your body, gag your soul
And kill the reck'ning dead.
At night we do things better left
Forgotten and unsaid.
And when the night is done with you
And you are done with it,
You will be held to answer for
All of the things you did.
But until then, best try to sleep,
Don't worry 'bout a thing -
You won't know when the time will come
Or what your time will bring.

Our Lady of Many Dreams
06:18
|
|||
|
We pray to God, and to God it seems
Our prayers go heavenward;
But She, our Lady of many Dreams,
Keepeth a secret guard,
And by virtue of every vow we vowed,
And by every oath we sware,
Is all our worship disallowed,
And She taketh toll of the prayer.
God is above, but She below,
Instant and very fair.
[We praye to God, and to God it seemes
Our prayers goe up on hie.
But Shee—our Ladye of many dreames
Heareth them presently;
For eache of us guards her secretlie
And should never question where—
We would lie, till the stars dropt out of the skie
And the face of Heaven was bare—
God is above and shee below
Instante & very faire]
And the stroke of the sword is Hers by right,
And every stroke of the pen,
And the brain and the tongue and the muscles' might,
For She ruleth divers men;
And the brutal strength is consecrate
To Her service and Her will,
And the writer labours early and late,
And the felon doeth ill.
God is above, but She below,
That we labour, or write, or kill.
[And hers is the hardest houre of strife
Either by Lande or Sea,
And hers the bitterest houre in life
And hers, our miserie—
But hers is that houre after the fraye,
And hers the peace of the dawne
And hers the endinge of the daye,
And for her is the Noone's heat borne
And for her do we take the ploughe or the pen,
And for her is the armour worne]
In a secret shrine, far out of sight,
Seen by no other eyes,
Lieth our Lady day and night
(Marvellous fair and wise);
For Her shrine is set in a heart's red throne
By our pulse's fall and rise,
And we pray to Her, and to Her is known
All good that in us lies.
God is above, but She below
Compelleth our destinies.
Whether our Lady be gently bred,
Or sprung of the city's sin;
Whether Her dress be silk or thread,
Or Her cheeks be full or thin;
Whether Her hair be black or gold,
Or brown, or blanched, or grey;
Whether our Lady be young or old,
Is only one that can say—
And he is both Priest and Worshipper
Whose eyes are turned on my lay!
[We praye to God, and to God it seemes
Our prayers goe up on hie.
But Shee—our Ladye of many dreames
Heareth them presently;
For eache of us guards her secretlie
And should never question where—
We would lie, till the stars dropt out of the skie
And the face of Heaven was bare—
God is above and shee below
Instante & very faire]
