You’d probably need to ask a nutritionist - I can only really speak to my own experiences, and I haven’t noticed that, although I can imagine that plenty of factors that might produce an effect of that style, the body is a complex system.

Q:

I kinda want to go to a rave but I'm 35 and I don't want to hang out with teenagers. Are there raves for older crowds? Are there raves where i can do molly with sweaty gray-haired women

Raves are not uni town nightclubs. There are people in the subculture who do it for life, and many people I know are in their 30s and 40s.

You can find events that are for you and lean more for (or at least have a strong contingent of) maturer people, I promise.

15. What’s a bad habit you picked up this year?

Haha, oh you know~

But also, I’ve adopted a certain sort of stubbornness with regards to pursuing my goals that is both a blessing and a curse depending on how it is channeled. I think sometimes it can negatively impact my self-esteem when I set high standards and then am not able to immediately meet them, or force myself to push through with something in a way that hurts me in the short term in order to get where I want to be faster.

Unfortunately this sort of thing has the disadvantage/advantage of absolutely working for me every time, so it’s going to be hard to dissuade myself from sticking with it.

20. What’s something you learned this year?

I’ve got a lot better at a lot of soft skills related to my social life. Easiest example is doing make-up, and I’m a lot happier with how I dress and present when I go out. But I’ve also got a lot more confident going out to events and socializing with new people, even beyond the massive progress I made on that last year.

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

Genuinely just getting back into things. I’ve spent most of December cancelling plans because I’ve been sick and having some pretty awful mental health. I need to get out to things and start feeling good again.

Plus I got a slight pay rise and a bonus, so maybe mild quality of life improvement, yay? My leave allowance will also refresh, so I might take a longer break from work soon. Ooh, and I’m getting a tattoo soon! Maybe multiple? Exciting times.

22. Favorite place you visited this year?

Didn’t do much as I couldn’t afford to go on holiday or anything, but I had a very nice day trip to Cambridge with some of my polycule that was a highlight when I think on outings away from the city. Went a few times actually, but the one where I went punting and we had a picnic was probably the stand-out.

8. Game of the year?

Sorry lads, I gotta do it. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Although Hades 2 was probably my favourite thing I played personally that released this year. Experienced E33 through two youtube playthroughs.

14. Favorite book you read this year?

Earlier in the year I actually finally listened to the entire Expanse series on audiobook, and I enjoyed it immensely, so maybe something from that. Although it was all so back-to-back I would struggling to distinguish which one was my particular favourite. I enjoyed most towards the middle of the series.

Lots of webnovels I wanted to read but didn’t. Maybe I’ll get better at that in 2026.

My print edition of There Is No Antimemetics Division was also a very fun read, although it reminded me that as much as I like the ideas QNTM explores, his stop-start sort of episodic narrative style is a bit of an acquired taste at times.
