Just pulled up on ao3 and searched up reader fics for dennis, and tell me why the first one was a fem reader that said “dennis whitaker is NOT gay” like tell me you saw a popular headcanon and went “no my favorite boy toy is straight 😠” like thats so childish on a whole other level. And its also just unnecessary. To imply its a negative that people headcanon him as queer because you want him to be with a woman? Gross. Literally could’ve had the fic with him being “straight” and left it at that. But no. Had to be weird about it.

Them being children only matters when it comes to Mike, right? It doesn’t matter that will is also gay and a child, it doesn’t matter that by that standard you’re also invalidating will’s sexuality. Because he’s just a child, right? How could he possibly understand his sexuality? Especially since Mike apparently can’t. Or queer people who’ve been teens who heavily relate to him can’t. It doesn’t matter how belittling that is to him, and every other character whose a minor in the series because it implies they’re too much of a child to understand. And by that logic, Lucas and max can’t know they love each other, right? Their children, they don’t understand those kinds of things. In fact, let’s throw out any ship that involves any characters who are minors? Max and Lucas? Burn it. Mike and eleven? Dump it. Suzie and Dustin? Yeah that one too. OH. AND IN PAST SEASONS, GUESS WHO WERE MINORS? Steve, Jonathan, Nancy, Vickie, and Robin. So yknow what? Let’s just get rid of all those ships too. They can burn with Tammy Thompson’s legacy. The only characters who can be shipped is adults! So that leaves us with Joyce and hopper.

Except, you wouldn’t agree with that, would you? See, Mike’s sexuality being discussed in the conversation of byler doesn’t bother you cause their children. It bothers you cause you’re homophobic. Whine all you like about it. You dont treat any of the hetero ships in the fandom the same. Because you have a double standard with queer people.

And let’s just tackle that first claim while we’re at it, right? The only people who enjoy it are fetishizing gay people. Uh huh. Even though thats an objective fucking lie. Over half of the people who enjoy byler ARE queer. I’ve seen so many asshats say that as gay men, it makes them uncomfortable, and guess what, AS A GAY TRANS MAN, you are uncomfortable for all the wrong reasons. Notice how I said queer people instead of just gay men? Yeah. It’s cause you have a prejudice against other queer people. Trans, bisexuals, lesbians, etc. Especially ones who identify as women. Because yes, even heterosexual people can enjoy a queer ship without fetishizing it. You know what would be fetishizing it? Saying as a woman “omg i see that blatantly mlm relationship and I want in between them, I wanna be their third” THAT is a cause for concern. But thats not a majority of those shippers and you know it.

No one is changing Mike’s sexuality,and no one is fetishizing gay people. IF YOU DON’T LIKE BYLER, SCROLL, GET A HOBBY, FUCK. GET A JOB! Just leave the people enjoying it the fuck alone instead of tagging all you’re hateful posts with the byler ship tag so that they can see how much of a bully you are.

And for fucks sake, STOP SPEAKING FOR THE QUEER COMMUNITY.
