Brave Browser is a free and open-source browser based on Chromium, whose first version was released in 2016. Configure your browser the way you want

The first thing you'll be able to do after installing Brave Browser is configure some of its most basic elements for the best possible browsing experience. For example, you can easily import all your bookmarks, passwords, and other browsing information, regardless of which browser you were using before. After this, you'll be able to choose which search engine you want as your default, such as Google, Bing, Ecosia, DuckDuckGo, among others. It's also a good idea to take a look at the interface's aesthetic settings before you start browsing. For example, you can choose between Light Mode and Dark Mode and customize the position of many of the browser icons.

Privacy, one of the pillars of Brave

One of the aspects that Brave Browser places the most emphasis on is privacy. Just to the right of the address bar is a small icon that shows exactly how many ads the browser is blocking at that moment. Additionally, when opening a new tab, you'll see a complete summary of your experience with the browser, with the total number of trackers and ads blocked, as well as the bandwidth you have saved by having blocked all those ads. This analysis can surprise you, as you can watch yourself save hundreds of megabytes of bandwidth in just a few weeks of using the browser. Virtual wallet and rewards

Brave Browser features an integrated virtual wallet in the browser where you can store BAT (Basic Attention Token), the cryptocurrency created by the Brave team. This cryptocurrency will allow you, among other things, to pay ad providers to avoid even the so-called benign, non-intrusive ads occasionally displayed by the browser. If you want, you can even buy crypto with any payment method you have on hand and add it to your Brave wallet. Additionally, you can get loads of discounts at stores and on products through a rewards system that can be accessed just by using the browser. Of course, all of this is completely optional.

Meet Leo, the dedicated AI assistant

As you might expect, Brave Browser features a Copilot-style virtual AI assistant that will help you with any problem or question you have. Following Brave's lead, this assistant is 100% private and won't share your information with anyone. When activated, it will appear in the right sidebar by default. But if you don't want to use it, you won't have to: it's easily disabled from the Advanced Settings.
