Non compliant. Stay Away. They sell data.

My experience with Airwallex has been deeply concerning and extremely disappointing from start to finish.

The onboarding process was invasive, disproportionate and excessively demanding. I was required to submit highly sensitive personal and business documentation at a very early stage, without any clear justification as to why such an extensive level of disclosure was necessary before even being approved.

After complying in good faith and providing substantial documentation, my application was rejected without any transparent reasoning. No detailed explanation. No clarity. No meaningful feedback. Just a rejection.

What is even more troubling is that despite no account ever being opened and no contractual relationship ever being established, Airwallex has refused to delete my personal data. They claim they are entitled to retain it for seven years, even though I was never onboarded as a customer. Retaining highly sensitive personal information from rejected applicants under these circumstances raises serious concerns about proportionality, necessity and data protection standards.

For a financial institution, trust and transparency are non-negotiable. Instead, the experience feels one sided: you are required to disclose everything, yet they disclose nothing. There is no accountability, no escalation path, and support responses are slow and generic.

The entire process gives the impression of an opaque compliance structure where applicants are subjected to extensive scrutiny while being offered minimal transparency in return. That is not how serious, client-focused financial institutions operate.

If you value your privacy, your time and professional treatment, I would strongly advise reviewing alternative providers before sharing sensitive information here. There are far more transparent and responsive platforms in the market.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend AirWallex. It looks very dark.

Very Poor Experience – Funds Held Without Resolution

My account (buzzkorp.com) has been under review, and the company has been holding around $2,000 of my balance without any clear explanation.

I was told that the verification process would take 5 days, but it has been well over that timeframe and my account is still not verified. There has been no proper update, no resolution, and payouts remain blocked.

This situation has seriously affected my business cash flow. Holding customer funds for extended periods without transparency or timely support is unacceptable.

I would not recommend this service to any business that relies on timely payouts and clear communication.

Horrible experience and account closure suddenly without any response

I used Airwallex for my website for nearly two years, and I feel obligated to warn others about my experience.

The first major issue was settlements — transactions regularly took around 10 days to reach our account, which caused serious cash-flow problems. This is completely unacceptable for a business.

The second issue was their system errors and outages. Their platform frequently failed, and when problems occurred, customer support was practically non-existent. Do not expect real support — the experience was disastrous and incredibly frustrating.

After two years of usage, Airwallex suddenly closed our account without providing any clear reason. No proper explanation, no accountability, no respect for the customer.

The way this was handled felt discriminatory and deeply unprofessional. Airwallex shows zero regard for its customers and operates however it pleases, with no transparency.

Honestly, I struggle to understand how a company with this level of service and conduct is allowed to operate in Australia. I would strongly advise businesses to think very carefully before trusting Airwallex with their payments.

Airwallex account suspension

There is right now more then 30.000USD Stuck on my account. Because it is 'temporarily suspended'

I have been using airwallex banking for almost a year now to receive payment from my Shopify store business. I have been using it as well for payments to my supplier, for my ads and for my employees and to pay myself.

Right now all my money is stuck on there. I have no money left to pay my bills and even feed my Family.

I have contacted their support and i do not get a decent respond. This has been taking a week by now and they are also not telling me the reason why the review is taking so long. I have been waiting and waiting but now this has taken to long. I have nothing on my own name anymore, only in that bank.

Give me my money back right now and make it available for me, if this is not the case i will get a Financial Ombudsman on Airwallex. This has been taking to long and u are just stealing money and holding my funds for no reason at all.

Further update. Now my account has been officially suspended. My money is frozen on there and can not do anything. U guys are not even allowed to do this. U guys are stealing all of the money i have!!

Danish account closed without reason

We suddenly had our Danish account numbers closed out of the blue.

We have been contacting their support for 8 days and they have not yet come up with an explanation or reopened our Danish account numbers.

This is a scandal, we cannot receive payments from our Danish customers or pay our bills until this is resolved.

Please resolve our issue ASAP as it cannot wait another day.

Hello your activity today is illegal, because under applicable EU and national law, Airwallex does not have the right to withhold my funds indefinitely without justification or communication.
Under the EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2 – Directive (EU) 2015/2366) and its national implementations (including the Law on Payment Services and Electronic Money), payment and electronic money institutions are required to safeguard customer funds and make them available to the rightful owner. Funds received from legitimate transactions remain the legal property of the merchant and cannot be held permanently without lawful grounds, clear explanation, and proportional timelines.
By withholding over £3000 today of my legitimately earned funds without providing a valid legal basis or meaningful response, Airwallex is acting in breach of its regulatory obligations. The money belongs to me, and Airwallex has a duty to release it or clearly justify any temporary restriction under applicable law.
I have provided my full inventory which should be private and not shared, I have shared customer delivery information, proof of deliveries, proof of legitimate orders. Proof of supplier invoices worth thousands of pounds. You have now blocked all payments in and out!! Unjustified. Please reinstate today.

Airwallex have well and truly shafted the business - You should not be allowed to deal with large amounts of money. You kill small businesses and livelihoods in the blink of an eye!! DO NOT TRUST THESE ROBOTS!!! They are not real people.

This company allowed thousands of pounds of transactions to be allowed. They then stopped my account and are now blocking the customers right to refunds!!!! Illegal activity.

Please refund these 3 transactions and allow the customers there monies back. The funds are sat in the account. It’s immoral and wrong.

Great platform with excellent support

I’ve been using Airwallex for my business and the experience has been very positive so far.

Airwallex represents a serious operational and financial risk for legitimate businesses.

In our case, despite:

a legitimate online business with a multi-year operating history,

millions in processed transactions with established PSPs,

a very low historical dispute rate,

zero disputes, chargebacks, or fraud indicators on Airwallex,

full KYC/AML compliance, complete documentation provided, and
an explicitly agreed reserve already in place,

Airwallex abruptly terminated services without warning and reclassified 100% of our operational balance and reserve as “Reserve” for 180 days, without any objective explanation.

No prohibited products.
No delivery failures.
No customer complaints.
No network alerts.

Just a generic “cannot comment” message and immediate operational paralysis.

This is not a neutral compliance measure.

It is disproportionate, opaque, and operationally destructive.
What makes this especially concerning is that our experience is not an exception.

A brief review of public feedback shows hundreds of similar cases, following the same pattern:
sudden freezes or terminations,
full balance holds,
no meaningful dialogue,
no timelines,
no factual justification.

This strongly suggests a systemic policy, not isolated risk management.
Any payment provider can talk about compliance.

What matters is how it is applied.
Airwallex’s approach creates a situation where compliant businesses can have all operational funds immobilized overnight, based on internal discretion, with no transparency and no proportionality.

That is not risk management.
That is counterparty risk.

For businesses that value predictability, operational continuity, and basic legal balance, Airwallex is not a safe partner. High risk.

Great platform & helpful customer support - Highly recommended!

I started using Airwallex in October 2025 and I'm very impressed with the service. I use their multi currency account and it fits my needs perfectly as I have customers in many countries.

The onboarding process was straightforward and my account manager Sarah has been extremely helpful in setting up my account and answering my questions along the way.

The Airwallex website functions perfectly and the mobile app is simple and straightforward to use. Sometimes Fintech websites and mobile apps can be overly complex but Airwallex have nailed it and the user experience is perfect.

In summary, the Airwallex platform is great, the customer service and account management team are a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend their platform.
